Ontario Spotlight Game: Ontario Nationals 16U vs Team Ontario 16U

Aurora –  Sunday morning game between two CPBL members, Team Ontario and the Ontario Nationals. The Nationals got started early and never looked back, eventually winning 13-0.

The Nationals got the game going with four singles in the top of the first to make the score 3-0.

They continued adding to their lead in the second with Spencer Sangster leading off with a long home run to right center-field and Jake Schaffer followed that up with a 2-run double and the score was 6-0 after two.

Dylan Howard hit an inside the park home run to lead off the fourth inning to extend the lead to 8-0. In the seventh, the Nationals continued to add on as they scored 5 more runs to push the game out of reach and solidify a complete team win.

On the mound, Reid Shantz of the Nationals kept Team Ontario off balance all game, allowing only five base runners through his five innings pitched, while picking up 7 strikeouts. Shantz used a fastball, changeup, curveball mix to keep the Team Ontario hitters guessing and off balance, as they were never really able to get anything started. Jeremy Acans came in for Shantz, throwing the last inning for the Nats,  giving up a single and a walk but was able to escape with nothing on the scoreboard.

A bright spot for Team Ontario was lead-off hitter Andrew Dinopolous as he ended up with a perfect day at the plate, going 3-3 at the dish
