FORT MYERS, FL - Any worn down scouts in attendance at City of Palms Park for the final game of the day were immediately given a jolt of life with the loud contact produced by FTB Tucci/Webgemz. Led by dynamic 2019 OF Riley Greene (Hagerty HS, FL), FTB pounded out 10 hits for 11 runs. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Florida commit is lanky and athletic, and sent a gasp through the crowd with a towering ground-rule double to deep right-center. The ball jumps off of the young outfielder’s bat, and he still has plenty of room to add muscle. He also showed off his speed with a triple. FTB Tucci/Webgemz had five doubles and a triple in the game, and in a quiet stadium the sound of the wooden bats slamming against the ball was nearly deafening.
A large assembly of scouts gathered to watch Top Tier Americans 17U take on the On Deck O’s at JetBlue Player Development Complex to watch two good teams battle for the group championship. On Deck O’s starter, 2019 RHP Brennan Malone (Porter Ridge HS, NC; North Carolina commit) displayed plus arm strength with a fastball that touched 90 multiple times, and lived at 87-89 for five innings. The young right-hander struggled with fastball command during the outing with five walks, but was able to escape multiple precarious situations with six strikeouts without allowing a hit or run. When he was on, Malone worked his fastball to both sides of the plate, and put hitters away with a slurve at 68-69 ...
