September will be upon us this week, which means one thing...our first series of events for the fall of 2017 is right around the corner. Our Western New York All-Star Games at SUNY Brockport will be held Sunday September 24, 2017 featuring 65 players split into 4 teams. Today we look at the catchers that will be in attendance and what to expect:

 

Western NY All-Star Games / Catchers

 

Nicholas Castellana C / OF / Lancaster , NY / 2020 Rankings State Rank:13 POS:2 Solid, athletic frame at 6-foot-1 180 pounds. Accurate, on-the-bag throws with some punch at the plate.

 

 

David Belsito C / 3B / St. Francis , NY / 2020 Lean frame at 5-foot-11 145 pounds. Line drive stroke with quick feet and transfer behind the plate. Looking to see some improve arm strength going forward.

 

 

Tyler Holmes C / 3B / Fairport, NY / 2019 Rankings State Rank:33 POS:3 Flying up the rankings. Strong, athletic build at 5-foot-10 180 pounds. Generates some bat speed and can pound the gaps. Above average arm behind the dish; a must follow.

 

 

Colin Williams C / East Syracuse-Minoa, NY / 2019 Rankings State Rank:34 POS:4 Attending both events; high end offensive projection with a strong, accurate arm.

 

 

Sean McKinney C / 3B / Lockport, NY / 2019 Rankings State Rank:83 POS:13 Strong 5-foot-10 170 pound right-handed hitter. Compact setup behind the plate, highly fundamental with his throwing mechanics. Excited to see him again.

 

 

Adam Wojciechowski C / RHP / West Seneca East, NY / 2019 Rankings State Rank:81 POS:12 Intriguing prospect both behind the plate and on the mound. His long and lean build of 6-foot-4 180 pounds may point to him not being behind the plate long term but he does many things well; quick wrists-whippy bat and throwing arm. A better exchange and improved footwork will get him down to 2.0 with his pop times.

 

 

Amaury Samalot Jr. C / RHP / Churchville Chili, NY / 2019 Compact, explosive build at 5-foot-7 170 pounds with a strong lower half. Aggressive swings with on-the-bag throws in the sub 2.10 range. Looking forward to seeing him again.

 

 

Ethan Guthrie C / 3B / Niagara Wheatfield, NY / 2019 Newcomer to the PBR circuit with an impressive 6-foot-2 180 pound frame.

 

 

Adam Webber C / 2B / Guilderland , NY / 2019 Rankings State Rank:169 POS:23 Aggressive leg kick at the plate, as him arm improves, so will his ranking. Dual event attendee.

 

 

Andrew Sanchez C / 3B / Rush-Henrietta, NY / 2019 Rankings State Rank:70 POS:11 Physical backstop at 5-foot-11 190 pounds. Balanced approach at the plate; stays low out of the chute on throwdowns. Strong arm, looking for him to finish off his throws more.
