Campus Series - St. Bonaventure (7/30/2019)
High end athletic build at 6-foot-3 195 pounds. Right-handed hitter exhibits plenty of strength in the box; aggressive lower half and can work the ball to the opposite field. Repeats actions but could benefit from his timing being slightly earlier. High ceiling offensively. Defensively- Patchett demonstrates a traditional catcher's arm action with plenty of strength. With any catcher that is his size, being able to stay low out of the chute and have the catch-to-throw movements blend better will make him a high end catch and throw defender. Athleticism will play behind the plate but could open up other positions as the offensive game will keep in the lineup at the next level.
WHAT TO EXPECT
"As with any player that possesses raw athleticism, the ability to fine tune those actions is the next step. There is no reason that Patchett will not become a legit power threat and someone who will be extremely difficult to run on. Overall abilities could allow for corner OF development as well as continuing to craft his work behind the dish. We are beyond excited to see the next step in this young man's game."
