On December 18th, Prep Baseball Report Oklahoma held its second event, the Oklahoma Winter Open I.D., in Yukon Oklahoma. Over 40 players from around the state from every high school class attended the event while college coaches and a pro scout took note.
Player profiles have been updated with profile pictures, stats, and videos. In days to come, we will break down the event position-by-position. Today, we will take an in-depth look at the 12 outfielders in attendance. Those many of them are two-way players, they will be covered today as outfielders. Outfielders
Zane Alexander, Carl Albert HS (2018)
A 5-foot-11, 155-pound lean frame. Offensively, right-handed hitter, middle of the field, line drive approach. Hits from a wide base with some bend in the knees, low and loose hands, smooth load, small stride, flat bat path through contact, 83 mph exit velo. Runs a 4.27 home-to-first. Defensively, fluid actions, good hands, high-3/4 slot, 74 mph from the outfield.
Collin Armstrong, Choctaw HS (2018)
A 5-foot-11, 158-pound lean frame with some length. Offensively, right-handed hitter, middle-pull, flat approach with consistent line drive contact. Uses a back leg heavy set-up, some rhythm in the hands, an exaggerated leg kick, arm-bar load, flat bat path through contact, and a high abbreviated finish. Exit velocity is 86 mph. Runs a 4.27 home-to-first. Defensively, shows athletic actions, charges the ball well, loose high-3/4 slot, 85 mph.
Dalton DeBaud, Yukon HS (2018)
A 6-foot-185-pound frame with some strength. Offensively, right-handed hitter, middle-pull approach, pull side pop. Wide, upright, set-up, moderate stride, drops hands right before launch, slightly uphill path, 89 mph exit velo. Ran a 4.16 home-to-first. Defensively, quick and aggressive actions, short, over the top arm action, quick release, 79 mph.
Joshua Detweiler, Moore HS (2017)
A 6-foot, 190-pound strong athletic build. Offensively, right-handed hitter, middle-oppo, flat approach, shows bat speed, had one of the best rounds of BP at the event. Hits from a balanced stance with an athletic base, uses almost no load, very simple, rotational swing, flat path to contact. Runs a 4.22 home-to-first. Defensively, accurate arm, high 3/4 slot, 83 mph, some stiffness.
Weston Jervis, Tuttle HS (2019)
A 6-foot, 180-pound proportional frame. Offensively, right-handed hitter, middle-oppo, flat approach, excellent round of BP. Balanced upright set-up, smooth load, small stride with late heal plant for timing, efficient path to contact, loose hands, flat through extension. Creates an 87 mph exit velo. Runs a 4.25 home-to-first. Defensively, average hands and feet, high-3/4 slot, 73 mph position velo.
Josh King, Jenks HS (2018)
A 5-foot-11, 163-pound lean build. Offensively, right-handed hitter, middle-oppo, mostly flat approach. Uses a back leg heavy set-up, small load, rhythm in the hands, slightly uphill path, high finish. Exit velo of 79 mph. Runs a 4.31 home-to-first. Defensively, aggressive actions, over the top slot, creates lots of back spin, 71 mph from the outfield.
Bryce Madron, Blanchard HS (2020)
A 5-foot-7, 145-pound athletic frame. Offensively, left-handed hitter, middle-pull approach, consistent hard contact, produced lift. Hits from a relaxed, upright, open stance, slight leg kick, quick hands, uphill path, balanced swing, 80 mph exit velo. Runs a 4.16 home-to-first. Defensively, quick, athletic actions, charges the ball well, short arm circle, 3/4 slot, 76 mph from the outfield.
Jordan Redman, Bishop Kelley HS (2019)
A 6-foot, 160-pound frame with long legs. Offensively, right-handed hitter, mostly middle of the field, flat approach. Uses a balanced, athletic stance, smooth load, slight leg lift, flat path through extension. Those Redman’s exit velocity only 77 mph, showed flashes of easy pop in his round of BP. Runs a 4.21 home-to-first. Defensively, shows some athleticism, clean arm action, 3/4 slot, 77 mph from the outfield.
Grant Reeves, Moore HS (2017)
A 6-foot-2, 185-pound frame with long limbs. Offensively, left-handed hitter, middle-pull, flat approach. Hits from a wide base, no stride, rocking load, rotational swing, good hand strength. Reeve’s exit velo was one of the highest at the event at 89 mph. Runs a 4.4 home-to-first. Defensively, good hands, made plays cleanly, quick arm action, 3/4 slot, 81 mph.
Brandon Rutledge, McAlester HS (2018)
A 5-foot-8, 150-pound athletic build. Offensively, right-handed hitter, opposite field, flat approach, found consistent barrel in BP. Balanced athletic stance, slight leg kick, fast hands, aggressive swing, 88 mph exit velo. Runs a 4.15 home-to-first. Defensively, smooth, confident actions, good hands, short, quick high-3/4 slot, some accuracy, 85 mph from the outfield. Rutledge has better all of his previous numbers in under two months time.
Chandler Shapard, Heritage Hall HS (2018)
A 6-foot-1, 165-pound frame with plenty of room to add size and strength. Offensively, right-handed hitter, line drive/ground ball pull side approach. Hits from a relaxed, upright, open stance, moderate stride, flat path, high finish, 84 mph exit velo. Runs a 4.44 home-to-first. Defensively, possesses an electric arm, 89 mph from a high-3/4 slot.
Charlie Wirtz, Perry HS (2018)
A 6-foot-1, 155-pound frame with plenty of room to add size and strength. Offensively, right-handed hitter, middle of the field approach, some solid contact. Uses a back leg heavy set-up, big reverse toe tap, drops hands, flat bat path, 84 mph exit velo. Runs a 4.52 home-to-first. Defensively, aggressive actions, long loose arm action, 78 mph.
