The inaugural rankings for Oklahoma’s 2019 class have arrived. Topping the list is 3B Wade Elliott (Deer Creek HS, OK). Though Elliott, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound frame packed with strength, can get on the mound and throw strikes with an 83-84 fastball while mixing in a breaking ball and changeup, he really shines as a position player. Defensively, Elliott moves with excellent footwork and shows soft, reliable, elite hands. Offensively, the right-handed hitter displays  fast hands, strength, and a knack for finding the barrel. He produces an exit velo of 99 mph off the tee.

SS Connor Beichler, (Owasso HS, OK), holds the second position. The 5-foot-10, 145-pound quick-twitch athlete is an all around polished baseball player. Beichler is easily one of the best defenders in the state, showing elite range, sure hands, plenty of arm to stick at short at the next level, and an advanced baseball IQ Offensively, the right-handed hitter plays to his strength with a flat, middle of the field approach, rarely swinging and missing. A reported 6.6 runner, plays even faster on the base paths, 3.82 and 3.85 down the line on bunts.

Another uncommitted sophomore, RHP/3B Daniel Merrill (Home School, OK) comes in at No. 3. Merrill is arguably the most projectable player in Oklahoma’s 2019 class. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound athlete has a long limbed frame with wiry strength that will continue to fill out. Offensively, the right-handed hitter stays inside the ball with a middle-opposite field approach. He creates some bat speed and uses his long lever produce an exit velo of 90 mph off the tee. On the mound, Merrill controls four pitches for strikes, including a fastball at 80-83 mph with a long, loose, whippy arm that shows quickness out front.
