OK Summer Underclass Games Analysis: 2020 MIF's

Prep Baseball Report Oklahoma hosted its first event of the summer at beautiful L.Dale Mitchell Stadium on the campus of OU. This event hosted nearly 80 of the top 2020 and 2019 graduates from around the state for a pro showcase followed by games. These talented underclassmen showed their skills in front of coaches from every level of college baseball as well as the PBR OK staff.
All of the video, stats, and pictures from the event have been posted on each individual player's profiles. Over the next week and a half, we will be taking an in-depth look at each player from the event position by position.Though a few of these 2020 grads listed below are two-way players, they will be covered here as MIF's. Each player's full profile can be viewed by clicking on their picture. All exit velo's were taken from a tee and all the at bats in the game started with a 1-1 count.
2020 MIF's
Price Allman RHP / SS / Metro Christian Academy , OK / 2020A 5-foot-11, 155-pound lean frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an open, athletic set-up with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a moderate leg kick and stride with good leg drive, quick hands, and a steep bat path with a high violent finish. Shows a middle to pull approach, found some barrels, 81 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.7 60. Defensively, shows very soft, consistent hands with above average feet, throws with a short arm circle from a 3/4 slot, 70 mph, with accuracy. In the game, was 0-for-3 with a ground out to third. |
Bosten Benn 2B / OF / Oklahoma Christian School, OK / 2020A 5-foot-11, 134-pound developing frame with plenty of room to add size and strength. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from a back leg heavy crouch with some rhythm throughout. Uses a short stride, short to the ball, slightly uphill path with a high finish. Shows an opposite field approach with some lift, mostly barrels, 70 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.69 60. Defensively, shows aggressive actions, active feet, average hands, throws from a 3/4 slot, 69 mph, some accuracy. In the game, was 0-for-2 with a ground out to the shortstop. |
Zachary Escovedo SS / RHP / Edmond Memorial , OK / 2020A developing 5-foot-8, 150-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a very wide and open stance with some rhythm in his hands. Uses short stride and shows some quickness in his hands while staying short to the ball. Shows a middle of the field, flat approach with barrel control in BP, 79 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.59 60. Defensively, shows deliberate and clean actions with good hands, throws from multiple slots, 73 mph, some accuracy. In the game, went 1-for-2 with a single and a ground out the the shortstop. |
Caden Green SS / 2B / Berryhill , OK / 2020A developing 5-foot-8, 120-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed batter hits from a wide, back leg heavy set-up. Uses a quick knee-knock load for timing. Shows an all fields, mostly flat approach, found mostly barrels, some quickness in his hands, 74 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.58 60. Defensively, shows average hands and feet, flashes athleticism on the slow roller play, throws from multiple slots, 67 mph, with accuracy. In the game, grounded out to the shortstop. |
Dylan Hampton SS / RHP / Piedmont , OK / 2020A physically advanced 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame with long legs.
