The Top 3
Jackson Holliday SS / 2B / Stillwater, OK / 2022The Oklahoma State commit with the familiar last names sticks at the top spot. The left-handed hitter had another huge spring for Stillwater HS and most recently stood out at the Area Code Games. National Crosschecker had this to say about him: "An Oklahoma State recruit, went a modest 3-for-10 with three walks, but once again showed an innate ability to track pitches at an elite level and get off big swings in all counts. Trying to do a bit too much for the first few days of the event, Holliday stayed on a ball later on for a booming double to the opposite gap. His ability to keep his hands back and adjust and get off hacks against all pitches in all counts continues to be different from his peers." |
Brennan Phillips LHP / OF / Owasso, OK / 2022Phillips was one of the reasons OK saw a spring that included some of the most dominating pitching performances the state has ever seen. The left-hander shows elite command of a fastball into the low 90s, a devastating curveball, and a fading changeup. The Oklahoma State commit most recently featured his devastating arsenal at the Area Code Games.
|
Caden Powell SS / RHP / Clinton, OK / 2022The Oklahoma commit showed that he continues to be one of the top power hitters in the country at the Oklahoma State games where he played pepper with the score board during the HR derby. The 6-foot-3 200-pound 2-sport standout shows the arms strength and hands to have a real chance to stick at 3B at the next level. |
The Risers
As with every season that goes by, many players take major leaps physically and developmentally. Below are some of the biggest risers since our latest rankings.
Tyler Gray RHP / OF / Oklahoma Christian School, OK / 2022Rankings StateRank: 14 / POS: 5
Tyler Gray spent most of his summer out of state, but we were still able to track him down at Lakepoint where he showed a big velo jump. Gray is now one of the hardest throwing uncommitted arms in the 2022 class.
|
Brett Pense RHP / 1B / Deer Creek, OK / 2022Rankings StateRank: 23 / POS: 10
At 6-foot-3 180-pounds with plenty of athleticism, the dual sports star is one of the top uncommitted players in the state and is one of the most projectable. The right-hander is a strike throwing machine and features a fastball that reaches into the upper 80s. |
Ethan Rone 3B / SS / Choctaw, OK / 2022Rankings StateRank: 33 / POS: 3
Always a solid right-handed bat with juice, Rone has made major strides on the defensive side of the ball, now showing the skills to stay at 3B at the next level and arm strength on the mound where he was up to 86 at the OK Summer Open. |
The Newcomers
In the offseason, we found a couple of difference makers who earned their way into our rankings. All three of the prospects below enter the rankings in the top 60.
Caden Hinther RHP / OF / Mustang, OK / 2022Rankings StateRank: 25 / POS: 12
An athletic 6-foot, 160-pound right-hander, Hinther shows high-end arm speed every time out featuring a fastball in the upper 80s and flashes a sharp slider. Hither will not stay uncommitted for long if he continues to develop his command.
|
Kyle Mantooth 2B / RHP / Mustang, OK / 2022Rankings StateRank: 32 / POS: 1
A newcomer to our list and a quickly rising two-way prospect, Mantooth shows the ability to pitch with a fastball up to 86, a solid swing that will play at the next level, and the hands, feet, and arm strength to stay on the infield. Kyle has shown the ability to step up in big moments playing a major role in getting Mustang to the State Championship game in the Spring.
|
Micah Simmons SS / RHP / Oklahoma Christian , OK / 2022Rankings StateRank: 52 / POS: 14
Simmons burst onto the scene at the OK Top Prospect Games. On the mound, he showed well above average spin on the fastball that he landed for strikes and elite spin (2279) on his slider up to 77. With the velo and spin on the slider, along with a long 6-foot-1, 170-pound frame, look for Simmons to have another velo jump.
