OK Future Games Trials: Left-Handed Pitchers

Prep Baseball Report Oklahoma hosted the OK Future Games Trials at Oklahoma State University on Sunday, August 20th. This event hosted 35 players in the 2020 and 2021 grad classes for a pro showcase followed by games. The Oklahoma State and the PBR staff were on hand to scout and evaluate the talented group. College recruiters will have a list of new names for their ScoutPlus subscription, as many talented played players showed their skills.

All of the video, stats, and pictures from the event have been posted on each individual player's profiles. We will start the in-depth analysis of the event today with a look at the left-handed pitchers. Though all of the athletes today are two-way players, they will be cover here only as pitchers. LHP's

Grayson Adams LHP / OF / Bethany, OK / 2021

A 6-foot-1, 152-pound lean and long frame with plenty of room to add size and strength. On the mound, works from an average tempo delivery with rhythm that he repeats well. Uses a full, loose, and clean arm circle that comes through a low-3/4 slot. Fastball showed consistent sink and some arm-side run, inducing ground balls often, sat 72-73 mph. Curveball is still a developing pitch, spins out at times, 62-63 mph. In the game, Adams filled up the zone early and earned lots of weak contact on the ground.

Jaxson Crull OF / LHP / Bixby, OK / 2020

An athletic and lean 5-foot-11, 155-pound frame with room to add size and strength. On the mound, works from an average tempo delivery with some loose athleticism. Arm gets a bit behind him out of the break, coming through a high-3/4 slot with some arm speed, throws from behind the baseball. Fastball flashed both arm-side run and glove side cut, 74-77 mph. Slider shows late and short cutting action, 71-72 mph. Curveball has 12/6-11/5 shape with gradual break 63-64 mph. In the game, Crull had a quick outing giving up just one hit and striking out three.

Conley Rae 1B / LHP / Owasso, OK / 2020

A physically advanced 6-foot-5, 215-pound frame. On the mound, works from an abbreviated wind-up with average tempo, rhythm, and slight recoil in the finish. Arm circle is moderate coming through an over-the-top slot with quickness and some arm speed out front. Fastball sits 71-75 mph with consistent downhill tilt. In the game, Rae was consistently around the zone with very few big misses.

Chris Spry LHP / OF / Jenks, OK / 2020

A durable 5-foot-11, 200-pound frame. Works from a controlled delivery down the mound, then drops and drives towards the dish with force. Arm circle is full and clean coming through an over-the-top slot with some arm speed. Hides the ball well behind his body and head, creating deception. Fastball keeps its plane, 79-83 mph, jumping on hitters. Curveball shows 12/6 shape with late depth and tight spin, 67-70 mph. Changeup keeps its plane at 70-71 mph. In the game, Spry threw strikes with all three pitches, striking out all five batters he faced, four of them looking.

Will Taylor LHP / 1B / Kingfisher, OK / 2021

A long and lean 6-foot-1, 165-pound frame with plenty of room to add size and strength. Works from a slightly up tempo delivery with athleticism and excellent leg drive down the mound. Arm circle is moderate with a wrist hook in the back, comes through a high-3/4 slot, easy, loose, and whippy. Fastball sits 71-72 with consistent arm-side run. Slider shows 1/7 shape with some late depth 63-64 mph, developing true swing and miss pitch. In the game, Taylor was efficient, filling up the strike zone with both pitches and keeping hitters off balance.
