On Saturday, January 21, Prep Baseball Report and its staff converged on Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano, to evaluate players from all over the state at The North Texas Prospect Games. The day began with each player going through a full pro-style workout, then continued with a game between two teams. The PBR staff was able to record stats and video on each player in attendance. PBR will continue to work to be the #1 news source for all of high school baseball across Texas. Continue to check back for updated reports, video, and events.

Below is a complete breakdown of all twelve pitchers, some of which are two-way players. Each player has an updated profile with stats, a player write-up, and video from the event. Listed below are the top performing arms from the event.

+ Mateo Gil, SS/RHP, Timber Creek HS, 2018
Texas Christian commit. 6-foot-1, 175-pound, projectable, athletic frame with well defined lower-half and broad shoulders. Gil, who committed to TCU the week after the event, put together a great day. He registered the top fastball velocity, top infield velocity and second best exit velocity. On the mound, the right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with quick, loose, arm action. Shows a smooth delivery with athleticism and repeatability. Starts with slower tempo to gather with hip turn at balance point. Leads with his front hip down the mound with ease, lands in line with his front foot closed, driving his hips through release point. In one inning of work, Gil’s fastball ranged from 90-92 mph with slight run on his two-seamer. He was able to throw his slider from 79-80 mph with tight spin and late life. Gill also shows a feel for a changeup at 78 mph that has arm-side fade. Gil is currently ranked #25 in Texas and #179 Overall.

 

+ Walker Sigman, RHP/1B, Anderson HS, 2017
6-foot-3, 218-pound frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with clean, elbow-dominant arm action. Up-tempo delivery with good energy, tilted shoulders and good directional front side to land in-line. He pounded the strike zone with his fastball jumping on hitters, ranging mostly from 86-88 mph with slight run. He threw one pitch at 85 mph and topped out twice at 89 mph in two innings of work. His slider was 71-74 mph with 10-4 shape and slurvey-type action. He throws his changeup with good arm speed for strikes, turning it over with arm-side fade at 80 mph. Although Sigman is currently uncommitted, he pitched with purpose and intent, and is an arm that college recruiters will want to see this spring.

 

+ Ethan Harris, RHP, Beckville HS, 2018
6-foot, 175-pound, lean, athletic, muscular frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a medium arm-stroke. Drop-and-drive delivery with level shoulders and some effort. Harris put together a solid outing in two innings of work. He pounded the strike zone with both his fastball and curveball. His fastball sat 83-85 mph with slight run to his arm side. He hit 88 mph one time on his last pitch of the day. His curveball has sharp 11-5 break at 70-73 mph. With Harris’ frame, ability to throw strikes and change speeds, look for him to get attention from college recruiters this spring and summer.

 

+ Davis Moye, 1B/RHP, Prestonwood Christian Academy, 2019
6-foot-2, 180-pound, projectable, long-limbed frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with long, loose arm action. Has a smooth delivery with balance and good tempo. He was able to spot his fastball to both sides of the plate with slight cut and run in the strike zone from 77-80 mph. Moye commands his curveball with 11-5 shape and sharp action at 64-65 mph. With Moye’s projectable frame and clean arm action, look for jumps in velocity as he continues to mature.

+ Blaise Bentsen, RHP, Texoma Christian, 2019
6-foot-6, 230-pound, projectable, strong, advanced frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with long arm action. Although he battled pitching on a turf mound, the sophomore showed the ability to adjust. His fastball ranged from 76-78 mph with slight run to his arm-side. His breaking ball has early sweeper-type action at 67 mph. He throws a straight changeup at 74 mph.

+ Jonny Follett, C/RHP, Prestonwood Christian Academy, 2020
5-foot-10, 160-pound, lean, athletic frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a long arm-stroke that works well from back-to-front. Starts his delivery with rhythm and good hip mobility into balance point. Lands in line with direction at foot-strike. Follett showed average ability to command his fastball in the zone at 74-76 mph with some sinking action. He scattered his curveball around the zone at 61 mph.

+ Adrian Gonzalez, 3B/RHP, North Side HS, 2020
6-foot-2, 240-pound frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot. His fastball ranged from 67-69 mph. He threw his curveball from 59-60 mph with 10-4 shape. Shows some rhythm in his delivery, level shoulders, lands in-line with closed front foot finishing upright.

+ Robert Husbenet, 3B/RHP, Richland HS, 2017
5-foot-11, 200-pound frame with broad shoulders. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with long arm action. His fastball ranged from 79-81 mph with slight run and sink at the bottom of the zone, topping out at 83 mph one time. His breaking ball has gradual action with 11-5 shape at 63 mph. Throws a straight changeup at 67 mph.

+ Christopher Lopez-Rivera, LHP/OF, Saginaw HS, 2018
5-foot-10, 160-pound frame.The left-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a short arm-stroke. Reliever type delivery as he worked from the stretch the entire outing. Good hip turn to balance point with a slight, cross-fire type delivery as he lands open with an athletic finish in the back leg. His fastball ranged from 71-73 mph with slight run and sink. Throws a curveball with loose spin from 63-65 mph that flashes downward movemen.

+ Sunny Patel, 2B/RHP, Nacogdoches HS, 2019
5-foot-9, 155-pound, still-developing frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a long arm stroke. Smooth, repeatable delivery with good balance and easy effort. Patel lands open at foot-strike with an athletic lower-half and good hip mobility. Showed good command of his fastball at 72-73 mph. His breaking ball has 11-5 shape that he throws for a strike at 62-64 mph with some late bite.

+ Christian Poullard, LHP/OF, North Side HS, 2018
5-foot-7, 155-pound frame. The left-hander works from an over-the-top arm slot with long arm action. Up-tempo delivery with some effort, he starts with a high leg-lift as he drifts forward, finishing with athleticism in his lower half. Flashes a quick arm and slight cut on his fastball that was 77-80 mph. He located a cutter in the strike zone at 73 mph. Throws a straight change from 72-74 mph.  

+ River Ridings, OF/LHP, Prestonwood Christian Academy, 2020
6-foot-2, 170-pound, projectable, long-limbed frame. The young left-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a slight downward stab after he breaks his hands. Shows some rhythm in his delivery with level shoulders and good balance. Lands slightly open and in-line at foot-strike. His fastball ranged from 78-80 mph with slight run. He showed good feel for his curveball at 72 mph with 2-8 shape. With Ridings projectable frame, look for the freshman to make jumps in velocity as he learns to consistently repeat his delivery and add strength.
