Norcal Player of the Week: Devon Daniel

2022 LHP Devon Daniel (Kerman HS) has been named the Prep Baseball Report Norcal Player of the Week due to his stellar work on the mound in two games last week.

Daniel was outstanding last week, as he was the week before. On Tuesday 2/19 he threw two scoreless innings of relief in a game vs Firebaugh HS. He struck out 4 of the 6 batters he faced, while allowing no hits or walks. His outing kept the game tied. Then on Friday 2/22 he made his first varsity start vs Exeter HS. Daniel was brilliant in outdueling Jaykob Acosta, a pitcher headed to Cal State Bakersfield. He went 6 innings, allowed 2 hits, 1 unearned run, while striking out 9. His line for the week: 8 IP, 0.00 ERA, 2 H, 2 BB, 13 K. For the season: 13 IP, 0.00 ERA, 6 H, 2 BB, 23 K

He is building off a strong summer and fall season heading into his freshman year. Daniel pitches well beyond his age, with savvy and moxie to go with quality stuff. He won't light up a gun quite yet, but he controls the fastball to both sides and his signature pitch is a BIG tumbling curveball, along with feel of the change-up. He's a young craftsman on the mound.

For his performances Devon Daniel has been named the Prep Baseball Report Norcal Player of the Week for the week of February 18th - February 23rd. We salute Daniel’s accomplishments and wish him and continued success both on-and-off the field.
