STOCKTON, CA. - The 2019 MLB Draft was completed on June 5th and on June 9th we started to look toward the 2020 draft class at the Northern California ProCase. A select group of players were invited to participate in this exclusive event geared toward draft prospects and high level collegiate talents with future draft potential. Players were put through a pro-style workout with various stats/data recorded during the workouts which can be found HERE.

OF Kenny DeCelle (Vacaville HS)

2020 OF Kenny DeCelle (Santa Clara Commit) listed at 6-2, 180 showing strength in the build and some length in the lower half; matches the build with the twitchy attributes of an above-average runner (7.03 60yd) who can get to full speed quickly. DeCelle's athletic ability is a standout playing at full speed all the time.

At the plate, DeCelle starts with a slight crouch having a wider base and high hands with flared elbows keeping the bat parallel to the ground. A big leg kick starts his timing before going down in place with his hands staying high and quiet; agile hips allow him to get the backside through the baseball popping the back foot off the ground as he drives over a firm front side. The barrel is compact with direct hands catching the ball out front with quality extension timing the hands up well with the firing back hip to drive balls; showed the ability to manipulate the barrel a bit working line drives to the opposite field, but the strength for him comes to the pullside where he hit some shots during BP (92 EV). 

Attacked the baseball from the OF with controlled footwork working to field the ball in time on his glove foot preventing extra steps and getting the ball out quickly. The arm is compact with a high slot showing good hand speed out in front allowing the ball to stay straight and inline with his targets (85 MPH); the arm strength shows up now (above-average future), but there still might be a bit more allowing DeCelle to match his speed and arm to play all three OF spots. 

DeCelle has always been a high-level athlete with baseball tools, and those tools continue to make jumps every time we see him. He's got a bright future in the game and looks like the type of player who still hasn't touched the surface of his talents.
