New York Games: CNY Position Player Analysis

The New York Games took place July 7-9, hosted in Rochester NY - allowing over 180 high-level NYS baseball players the chance to be seen on a larger platform. Over 70 colleges and a handful of MLB scouts made their way to Rochester in hopes of uncovering a hidden Gem. Six players have already committed to D1 programs due to their high-end performance at our event and many more are taking visits and weighing college offers.
Here's a look at the CNY Team position player reports from our New York Games:

Anthony Nucerino, OF, Fayetteville-Manlius HS, NY (2016) Strong thick body frame at 5-foot-10, 180-pounds. Good fielding approach with clean and smooth footwork, hand and glove control is high quality, very smooth as a fielder, quick transition from glove to throwing motion, arm is clean, loose with great carry and arm strength to target. At the plate begins with a slightly closed stance, small back load and a timed short stride helps him maintain good balance, hands a smooth, but long through the zone to ensure quality contact, short extension mainly because of a slightly cut-off finish.
Colin Bevard, OF, West Genesee HS, NY (2016) Compact, athletic body type at 5-foot-10, 185-pounds. Shows smooth fielding qualities, aggressive tendencies, quick with glove to throwing transition, average range and footwork, arm action is high-3/4 but is able to release fairly quick to the target. At the plate setup is relaxed and balanced, has a short stride with hips opening slightly early, but keeps the bat is the hitting zone for solid contact. Has some uphill tilt in his bat and finishes at a balanced and high position.
Joshua Loeffler, OF, Fayetteville-Manlius HS, NY (2016) Solid, athletic frame of 5-foot-10, 182-pounds. Aggressive fielder, very smooth with the glove and has quick hands upon receiving the ball, rangy and is able to get to a ball on either side of him easily, arm action is clean, loose and accurate, does a good job of playing through the ball to his target. At the plate has a relaxed and balanced setup, uses a slight load and good stride length to stay balanced on the pitch, Shows great projection as a hitter with short, compact hands to the ball and an athletic finish after contact.
Mitchell Hoalcraft, IF, Fayetteville-Manlius HS, NY (2016) Athletic body type. Shows average range but is able to field the ball cleanly, hands work well during receiving and transfer, has good arm action to target with a slight recoil after release, releases at a high-3/4 arm slot. At the plate has a balanced and relaxed setup, has a smooth back load and short stride to the pitch, hips open slightly early but does a good job of keeping hands in the hitting path for solid contact, has some uphill tilt and power potential.
Parker Hendershot, IF, Tioga HS, NY (2016) Solid, athletic body frame at 6-foot-1, 175-pounds. Able to field cleanly with good hand and glove action, stays deep in the field but has a quick transition to get rid of the ball, uses a high-3/4 arm slot and fairly accurate with throws. Shows relaxed and athletically balanced setup at the plate, smooth back load and short stride to the pitch, hands are compact and strong through the hitting zone, bat stays on level plane and ends at a balanced high finish.
AJ Sgroi, IF, Liverpool HS, NY (2016) Athletic body. Clean, smooth footwork with great range in the field. Good approach to fielding with quick hands and good transition from receiving to throwing motion, Arm strength is an attribute and was able to show excellent accuracy towards the target, releases at multiple arm slots and arm action is visibly clean and loose. At the plate shows a relaxed and balanced setup, short stride to the pitch, hands are quick to the ball and bat is in hitting zone for a long time, has some uphill tilt in swing to generate potential power.
Sammy Kippen, IF, Solvay HS, NY (2016) Strong, thick body type. Average range and fielding skills, but quick with hands and release. Keeps hands open out in front, clean with transfer and arm slot is versatile and shows athleticism. At the plate begins with a slightly opened stance, has a smooth back load and uses a longer stride to generate more power, hands stay long through the zone with a slight uphill tilt in bat path.
William Clifford, 1B, Baldwinsville HS, NY (2016) Solid, athletic body frame of 6-foot-0, 190-pounds. Very aggressive infield approach, has great range and instincts in the field, hands are quick and smooth, does a good job of seeing ball into glove, arm slot is high-3/4 with accurate and strong arm carry to target. At the plate he is relaxed and balanced at setup, uses a short and smooth back load, good hands to the ball and bat path stays long through the zone, has a bit of uphill tilt and finishes slightly above mid-section.
Rocco Leone, IF, Liverpool HS, NY (2016) Standing 5-foot-7, 155-pounds with an athletic body. Clean and smooth footwork in the field, hands are soft and has quick transfer from glove to throwing position, shows good instincts and has great range as a fielder, arm action is fluid and is able to release ball at multiple arm slots, throws with accuracy to target. At the plate is very athletic in setup with confidence and balance, has a smooth load and short stride to the pitch, hands are short, compact through the hitting zone, bat stays level through the zone with power potential. Very solid hitter with great projection.
Michael Yaizzo, IF, Solvay HS, NY (2016) Athletic body frame. Able to field cleanly with good hand and glove action, stays deep in the field but has a quick transition to get rid of the ball, uses a high-3/4 arm slot and fairly accurate with throws even though he recoils slightly after release. At the plate has an opened stance, smooth back load and short, balanced stride to the pitch. Hands move short, quick through the zone, has short extension but has power potential. Hitter with a lot of upside with continued strength gains and hard work.
Sean Putnam, C, Fayetteville-Manlius HS, NY (2016) Compact, athletic look at 5-foot-11, 170-pounds. Has average footwork behind the plate, receives cleanly and is able to transfer to throw downs, arm action is fluid at a high -3/4 arm slot. At the plate hitter is relaxed and balanced at setup, has a smooth back load prior to swing, hands stay long over the plate with a level bat plane, generates good power on swing and has a good approach at the plate. Show potential as a hitter.
Connor Siracusa, 1B, Union Springs HS, NY (2016) Athletic build. Good hand and glove action, stays deep in the field but has a quick transition to get rid of the ball, uses a low-3/4 arm slot and fairly accurate with throws even though he recoils slightly after release. At the plate begins with a relaxed and balanced setup, short stride to the pitch, level bat plane through the hitting zone and hands are long and over the plate for more consistent contact.
Tyler Mattison, 1B, Fort Ann HS, NY (2017) Athletic body frame. Good hand and glove action, stays deep in the field but has a quick transition to get rid of the ball, uses a low-3/4 arm slot and fairly accurate with throws even though he recoils slightly after release, average range but can improve with more lateral movement. At the plate hitter shows good potential. Starts with a relaxed and balanced position and upon pitch takes a long stride to the ball, has a very strong and compact swing with good hand movement through the zone, gets full extension and finishes at an athletic, balanced position.
Jeremy Johnson, C/OF, Fort Ann HS, NY (2017) Solid, athletic look at 6-foot-1, 195-pounds. Able to field cleanly with good hand and glove action, stays deep in the field but has a quick transition to get rid of the ball, uses a high-3/4 arm slot and fairly accurate with throws even though he recoils slightly after release. At the plate setup is relaxed and balanced, has a smooth load and short stride to the pitch. Although hips open slightly early, he keeps his hands in the hitting zone for a long time to make consistent contact. Swing has some uphill tilt and finishes at a high-athletic position.
Rylan Baker, OF/C, Oneida HS, NY (2016) Has an athletic body, stands at 6-foot-0, 160-pounds. Aggressive instincts and approach in the field and behind the plate, stays out in front of ball when receiving, uses a high-3/4 arm slot with average arm action and quick transfer to release. Begins with a relaxed and balanced setup, starts swing with a smooth back load, keeps hands long through the zone, has some uphill tilt of his bat plane and does not fully extend on swing, potential with good contact ability.
