After an incredible year both at the plate and on the mound, we are happy to announce the PBR New Jersey Player of the Year is 2017 LHP/1B Harry Rutkowski from Woodbridge High School.
A Rutgers recruit, Rutkowski had monster year for the Barrons, leading the team to a 25-6 record and to the North 2 Group 4 final. The 6-foot-3 225-pounder was 9-0 on the mound with a 0.68 ERA. In 62 innings pitched, Rutkowski struck out 103 batters and surrendered just 24 total hits and walking 13. He allowed only 6 earned runs the entire year.
At the plate, Rutkowski was equally as feared. A first baseman when not pitching, the left handed hitter stroked a state-best 11 home runs and drove in 35 while finishing the season batting .483 (42-87). He slugged 7 doubles and 2 triples as well.
To top things off, Rutkowski was selected by the Cincinatti Reds in the 28th Round of the MLB Draft last week.
