New Hope claims 8-5 victory, advancing in 5A playoff

Madison – On Monday, PBR Mississippi traveled to the campus of Germantown HS, as the Mavericks faced off in a deciding game three match-up against the New Hope Trojans. Germantown loses back-and-forth contest, after New Hope claims, six to five advantage off the bat of uncommitted 2018, 2B, Drew Pounders.
New Hope would get the offense going early with 2017 Catcher, Thomas Steven, Northeast CC signee, hitting a lead off double. New Hope would score two more runs in the first, taking an early three-to-zero lead. Germantown would fight back and find a way to tie game in the fourth off the bat of 2017, 1B Mark Smith, JSU football recruit hitting a sacrifice fly allowing the tying run to score.2019 uncommitted RHP Payton Springfield received start for New Hope. Springfield was able to give the Trojans three and two thirds innings, allowing five runs on six hits while walking two and striking out one. Leading New Hope offensively was 2017 DH, Mississippi Delta signee, Carson Forrester and 2017 Catcher, Northeast CC signee, Thomas Stevens who combined went four-for-nine on the day with four runs batted in.
2019 RHP Blake Dilmore started for the Mavericks only going two innings, surrendering four runs on four hits while striking out two and walking zero. The Mavericks would use three more pitchers on the day including 2019 Matt Corder, who takes the loss. Corder was able to go three and a third innings surrendering four runs, four hits, striking out two, and walking one. Mississippi State recruit, 2019 DH Eric Newsom would lead Germantown offensively going a perfect four-for-four on the day while driving in two runs.The Mavericks claim their first lead of the game in the fourth inning, taking a 5-4 advantage going into sixth inning. Although, this would be the only lead of the game for Germantown, as New Hope would post two runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh claiming an eight to five victory and advancing in 5A state playoffs.
