Griffin Stalcup, RHP/SS, Burr and Burton (Vt.), 2017
Scouting Report: Perhaps the state's best two-way player, during B&B's postseason run he would start at shortstop and pitch the last three or four innings in relief. Athletic frame (6-2, 190 lbs), he also is one of the state's football QBs. A lefty hitter with a smooth strong swing, he laced a line single to center in three trips vs. one of the state's top pitchers in the title game. Pitched out of trouble in the fifth and retired seven of the nine hitters he faced recording three strikeouts. Low-80s fastball, he allowed just three earned runs in 30 innings this season with 29 Ks.
Bishop Guertin vs Alvirne Scouting Notes - 6/8/16
By Luke Wolford
PBR New England Scout
Andrew Thibault, SS, Bishop Guertin
Scouting Report: With an athletic build, the right-handed hitter had a productive day at the plate totaling 2 hits in 5 at bats for Bishop Guertin including a double to lead the game off. He showed a balanced stance generating power from his lower half. Defensively, Thibault showed range to his right and left and a strong arm across the diamond.
New Britain and NFA Scouting Notes - 6/7/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
William Homar, P, New Britain High School, 2018
Scouting Report: A long and lengthy right-handed pitcher who has room to mature and develop. He has a very quick delivery, with a long arm. He starts his hands at his waist then brings them up to his chest before delivering the pitch. His fastball has natural 2-seam action and consistently is throwing it between 80-82 MPH, was able to get up to 84 MPH a few times. He was able to command strikes with his fastball as well as his slider that was clocked between 65-69 MPH. His slider is a little to slow and is more slurve action than slide. Change up is a work in progress. Projects out, real good follow.
Braintree vs St. John's Scouting Notes - 6/6/16
By Luke Wolford
PBR New England Scout
Erik MacDonald, CF, Braintree, 2016
Scouting Report: The left-handed hitting centerfielder uses a slightly open stance and a level swing to leadoff the Braintree offense. In the game he was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk showing patience during his at bats. Defensively, MacDonald patrolled the outfield showing range all over centerfield.
Hartford vs Colchester Scouting Notes - 6/6/16
By Bruce Bosley
PBR New England Scout
Jordan Allard, RHP, Hartford (Vt.), 2017
Scouting Report: Good athlete who is not overly tall but has strong legs. Used a smooth motion for a low-to-mid 80s fastball and a sharp curve. Pitched out of a pressure situation in the mid innings, and came back in to close out the game by striking out the side in the seventh. Had a very high strike percentage and not many batters connected on the barrel. Started the game at shortstop and made an athletic play in the first spearing a hard liner in the hole to start a key double play.
Newton North vs Pope Francis Scouting Notes - 6/5/16
By Luke Wolford
PBR New England Scout
Eric Mah, SS, Newton North, 2016
Scouting Report: Mah played a solid game against Pope Francis showing a good glove and having a good day at the plate. Offensively, Mah was 4-6 with 4 singles in the game using a level swing and an upright stance. Defensively he had good footwork and showed a strong arm
Westford Academy vs Peabody Scouting Notes - 6/3/16
By Mark Andrick
PBR New England Scout
Zachary Bunker, 3B, Westford Academy, 2017
Scouting Report: Above average build, 6’ 200+ and very athletic looking kid. Solid third baseman, quick feet, smooth mechanics and excellent arm. Good speed on the bases and well balanced stance at the plate. Stays back on back and shifts his weight well into his follow through. Good pop and line drive type hitter. Needs to work a little more on using all fields, as he was trying to pull most pitches but definite potential.
Branford and Hamden Scouting Notes - 6/2/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Zane Kmietek, P, Branford High School, 2018
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 180 pound, solid pitchers frame, has room to fill out. A right-handed pitcher, he was sitting 82-83 MPH and topped out at 85 MPH. He was throwing a breaking ball at 73-75 MPH. He had a long arm and good glove tuck. His stride was long which might have effect on him leaving most of his pitches up. In the first inning he had some bad luck and four runs scored. He showed great composure and toughness battling through errors and bad strike zone. He needs to work making a difference between his curveball and slider both showed the same movement. Solid 2018 follow.
Platt vs Conard Scouting Notes - 6/1/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Carson Coon, RHP, Platt, 2018
Scouting Report: 6-foot-4, 180-pound lanky right-handed pitcher, who has great potential. Over the summer his fastball was 76-78 MPH, last night he was clocked at 81-82 MPH and topped off at 83 MPH. His changeup was at 70 MPH and curveball at 71 MPH. He only faced two batters, but came in a big situation with the bases loaded and shut the door on them. He came in throwing strikes right away and had a big strikeout on 3-2 curveball. His curveball was more like a slurve breaking more 3 to 9. If he continues to develop and gain strength, will be a serious guy to follow. Will be attending the CT Top Prospect Games.
South Windsor vs Avon Scouting Notes - 5/27/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Zachary Donahue, RHP, South Windsor, 2019
Scouting Report: Only a freshman was very impressive with his start against Avon. He throws strikes, throwing a 4seam fastball at 78-80 MPH, a 2-seam fastball with good cut at 76 MPH, a tight slider at 70-71 MPH, and a curveball at 63-65 MPH. He had command of his offspeed throwing them for first pitch strikes, but sometimes lost command of his fastball. He got himself in a jam, but did not lose composure at all. He battled through it and got out of it without letting up a run. I liked his slider the best and can see it being a very good strikeout pitch. With him only being a freshman he has a lot of time to develop to become a dominate pitcher.
Enfield vs Windsor Locks Scouting Notes - 5/27/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Zack Healy, OF, Enfield, 2019
Scouting Report: Athletic frame who bats and throws from the left side. His stance was slightly open, up on his front toe, and was choking up on the bat. His hands were out from his body, but was able to bring them back in time into good hitting position. In games swing were good. In the outfield he showed a strong arm and good range. Strength is a must.
St. Johnsbury vs Mt. Abraham - 5/25/16
By Bruce Bosley
PBR New England Scout
Patrick Greenan, LHP, St. Johnsbury Academy (Vt.), 2017
Scouting Report: Tall, 6-0 but still growing, lanky lefty with smooth motion. His fastball was clocked in the high-70s all game, regularly at 78 mph. Kept hitters off balance with a sharp curve and effectively changed speeds. Good but not great pickoff move to first. Bats right and plays first base when not on the mound. Will improve and will grow according to his coach.
Lexington vs Waltham - 5/25/16
By Mark Andrick
Co-Director of Scouting
Anthony Bianchi, LF/RHP, Lexington, 2019
Scouting Report: Average build, 5’10” 170-pounds, very impressive at the plate for a freshman, was right on the ball in each of his 5 at bats. Had three solid hits, sprayed the ball all over the field. Looked confident and in control at the plate. Good potential as a hitter. Also was impressive in the inning he pitched at the end. Good control, FB touched 80 mph, curve had sharp break 65-67 mph and down in the zone. Looks like there could be a very bright future for this kid.
New Britain Scouting Notes - 5/25/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Will Homar, RHP, New Britain HS, 2018
Scouting Report: Athletic tall skinny right handed pitcher who throws with a ¾ slot. Fastball is 82-85, pounded it well to both sides. He throws a 4-seam, 2-seam and curveball. His 2-seamer has good late movement on it, while his curveball has a lot of movement that breaks 11/ 5 with a big difference in velocity. Worked off his fastball in the beginning of the game, but towards the end started working off of his curve. Comfortable enough to throw his curve in any count. Looks like a gamer on the mound, projects out well.
North Branford and Lyman Hall Scouting Notes - 5/24/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Jakob Thiebe, C, Wilcox Tech High School, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-7, 160- pound, average athletic frame with room to fill out. He has an above average arm from behind the dish. He recorded a 2.2 on his pop time and threw multiple kids out during the game. A right-handed hitter, in game swings were good. He has speed, he ran a 4.2 from home to first base. Showed an aggressive approach, quick hands, and a good path to the ball. He had the only hit of the game off an competitive pitcher.
Torrington vs Wolcott Scouting Notes - 5/23/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Raymond Bartoli, 2B, Wolcott HS, 2017
Scouting Report: Bartoli was a big part of the Eagles 14-1 victory. A right-handed hitter he tallied 3 RBIs with a pair of doubles. The stance is simple, wide, bat is flat on the back shoulder, leaks forward at times. Strong, powerful hitter, will hit the ball where it is pitched. Smooth in the field at second base, started a great 4-6-3 double play. Good hands, has an above average arm, showed plus carry on a relay throw. Off the mound is 84-86 mph, hasn't thrown much, ton in his arm, spins it at 72-75 mph.
CNEPSBAL: Thomas Blackburn Championship Tournament Scouting Notes - 5/23/16
By Shaun Vigeant
PBR NE Intern
Joe Simourian, CF, Andover, 2018
Scouting Report: Small frame with good speed out of the leadoff spot. Holds hands low and has surprising pop when he pulls pitches. Plays a great center field getting to balls quick and made a few diving plays on the day. Average arm from the outfield. Joe has great potential and is definitely a guy to follow over the next few years.
Belmont vs Arlington Catholic - 5/19/16
By Mark Andrick
Co-Director of Scouting
Cole Bartels, RHP/SS, Belmont, 2016
Scouting Report: Penn st. commit, 6’1” 180, slender, did not pitch, were saving him for game against Reading on Saturday. Was at shortstop, very smooth there, cannon for an arm. Threw out a runner from deep in the hole at short with ease. Very calm and collected, didn’t rush any throws. Will be clearly just pitching in college but he was impressive in the infield. He also showed a good bat as well batting leadoff. The triple he hit was an absolute laser that skipped past the left fielder, had difficulty catching up when Rosati came in, would have liked to see him pitch a couple innings.
Groton vs Belmont Hill - 5/18/16
By Mark Andrick
Co-Director of Scouting
Armand DiFillipo, RHP, Belmont Hill, 2016
Scouting Report: Above average build, 6-foot-1/210+ pounds. Over the top delivery, was up in the zone and wild in the 1st but settled down and control ended up being excellent. Above average fastball, ranged from 80-83 mph, located it very well, not a lot of movement. Was slowing his arm down on the curve early but settled in and used it very effectively, sharp break when it was down in the zone, 68-70 mph. Outstanding pickoff move for a righty, quick and accurate throws every time, nearly picked a runner off. Also swung bat well, good opposite field power. Future in college is on the mound though.
Rhose Island Division 2 & 3 All-Star Game Scouting Notes - 5/18/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Matt Gowdy 3B, Exeter West Greenwich HS, 2018
Scouting Report: A big right-handed hitter, straight up stance, a little hunched over who jumps on first pitch. Bat speed is above average for his age. Weight tends to leak forward on offspeed pitches, If he can make the adjustment he will be a huge offensive threat. At third base he is a huge body that showed soft hands and an above average arm. He made multiple plays with smoothness, with good footwork. It was clear while watching the Division 3 All Star Game he had the best arm and has a lot of room to grow.
Maloney Scouting Notes - 5/18/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Sebby Grignano, SS/2B, Maloney, 2017
Scouting Notes:Thin athletic frame, with plenty of room for development. A right-handed hitter, the stance is simple and even. The hands are are loose with bat slightly flat on his shoulder with the knob facing forward slightly. The trigger has some coil to it, shows some whip out front with bast speed. Ran well down the line on a hard ground ball to SS. Defensively, is an above average defender, hands are soft, with a fluid transfer. Plays SS but will be better suited for second, can spin it from both sides. Strength is a must, offensively needs to continue to improve, good looking defender, who should be able to handle the bat.
South Paul Scouting Notes - 5/17/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Wes Lahey, RHP, St. Paul, 2017
Scouting Report:A durable pitchers frame, shoulders and back are wide, needs to get stronger. A right-handed pitcher, arm works freely, a little longer path on the backside. The arm works out of a natural ¾ slot, fastball was 80-82 mph, got it to 83 early in the outing. The fastball has heavy sink to the arm-side. Works from the stretch the entire time, leg raise is high with a little coil to it, at times spins off at the end of the delivery. The breaking ball is a good pitch, 72 mph slurvy hammer. Did not show much of a changeup but with arm action, should be a good pitch with the slot he creates. Times to plate are good 1.06-1.19, was aggressive and came after hitters, has some upside, definite follow for me.
East Greenwich vs Johnston - 5/17/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Jake Pratte, RHP, Johnston High School 2016
Scouting Report: Tall, skinny, frame good build for a typical pitcher, Naturally athletic and still has a lot more room to grow. Hard throwing, with good bit on curveball and can locate his change up well. Smooth from the windup, stands on the right side of the mound on a slight diagonal. Keeps good composer on the mound, and has trust in his off speed. Likes to live low with all pitches.
Ridgefield Scouting Notes - 5/16/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
John Thrasher, OF, Ridgefield 2017
Scouting Report: Athletic, 6-0, 165-pound junior with plenty of room to add strength. He is as athletic as any player I've seen in the FCIAC this season. As an outfielder, he possesses a plus arm and excellent legs to chase down balls in the gap. He got to numerous balls to his left and right and was a little slow reacting to an in-between ball that he almost made a spectacular catch late in the game on. He will continue to improve the tracking of balls as he gets more experience. At the plate he hits from a balanced stance with bent knees, but the path to and through the ball is compact and quick. He stayed back nicely on a breaking ball and drove a ball to deep left. He shows gap-to-gap power that will improve with strength. His speed is a difference maker as he bunted for a hit back to the pitcher and beat the throw to first along with easily stealing 2 bases on first pitches. This kid is a division 1 prospect with room to get even better. Definitely need to watch him very soon before someone else does.
East Hartford Scouting Notes - 5/11/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Zachary Pearson, C, East Hartford, 2018, East Hartford
Scouting Report: 6-foot, thin, athletic frame, movements are loose, has plenty of room for future development. Defensively, shows a balanced setup, feet and hands work well together. The arm is clean, smooth and throws were on a line, needs strength, once he gets stronger, arm will take off. Received well, hands were soft and got around dirt balls. Offensively, is a right-handed hitter, wide and balanced stance. Hands are loose, direction of stride foot could be better. Interesting upside, needs strength, could be a catch and throw guy down the road.
Auburn vs Grafton - 5/11/16
By Dean Bonneau
Co-Director of Scouting
Joe Gemelli, RHP, Grafton HS, 2018
Scouting Report: Strong RHP with mid to upper-70s fastball velocity. Kid has potential to be a very solid high school pitcher. Tends to break hands late and lets his momentum move forward before hand separation, with very little backside load. Dominated Auburn HS hitters first time through the order, but struggled to throw his fastball and off-speed for strikes during the second time through the batting order. Throws a sweeping curveball, that he did well to keep his low in the zone at the beginning of the game, but left it up and flat as he fatigued. He has a repeatable delivery and could see a big jump in velocity as he gets stronger and loads better on his backside.
Rutland vs Mount Anthony - 5/10/16
By Bruce Bosley
PBR New England Scout
Jason Smith, C, Rutland, 2016
Scouting Report: Solid, athletic frame with good hands receiving the ball. Showed leadership behind the plate and called a good game. At the plate he attacked the ball well and waited on off-speed or breaking balls twice for line singles with runners in scoring position. Potentially one of the better catchers in the state.
Masco vs North Reading - 5/10/16
By Mark Andrick
Co-Director of Scouting
Andrew Manni, DH, Masconomet, 2018
Scouting Report: Big, strong and athletic kid, 6’1” over 200 pounds. Doesn’t cheat himself at the plate, takes great hard cuts. #3 hitter as sophomore, was pitched around in the 1st inning with two outs. Also showed above average speed on the bases. Had the big hit, crushing a high 83 mph fastball one hop to the fence in left-center. Very interested in college baseball. Has not thrown all year, has an arm issue and was advised by a doctor not to pick up a baseball so just DH this season. Big time potential with this kid.
Darien Scouting Notes - 5/10/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Jake Geddes, RHP, Darien, 2017
Scouting Report: Average athletic frame, good durable pitchers frame. A right-handed pitcher, works from a high ¾ slot, has some make effort to him. Fastball was 80-82 mph, was aggressive and attacked the hitters. The curveball was thrown at 68-69 mph, has 11/5 break, got better as the outing went on. Mixed in a change, for a show me pitch. Threw strikes and competed at a high level.
Norwalk Scouting Notes - 5/9/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Marco Monteiro, C, Norwalk, 2018
Scouting Report: Smaller, strong physical frame, hands and wrists are very strong, has some fast twitch to him. A right-handed hitter, shows good bat speed, is a dead red fastball hitter, collected a double over the center fielder's head. The stance is even, balanced and the hands are held above his shoulders with some movement. The setup behind the plate , is low to the ground, flexible and relaxed. The hands work are strong and does a good job of receiving. Shows average arm strength for his age, 2.15 thrower in game. Good looking catcher for the 2018 class.
BFA St. Albans vs Champlain Valley - 5/6/16
By Bruce Bosley
PBR New England Scout
Brady Green, 3B, BFA St. Albans (Vt.), 2017
Scouting Report: Lean athletic infielder with a strong arm and good range at third base. Can also play in the middle infield (three-year starting seniors occupy 2B and SS this season). Hits in the middle of the order and has smooth swing with solid contact. Didn't chase bad pitches. Also a good baserunner.
Essex vs Rice Memorial - 5/5/16
By Bruce Bosley
PBR New England Scout
Maverick King, RHP/IF/OF, Essex (Vt.) 2018
Scouting Report: Lefty hitter, righty thrower who is a very good all-around athlete who also plays the corners in the infield and outfield, fielding each position well. On the mound he had command of a mid-to-high-70s fastball and a sneaky breaking ball. Strong (6-0, 180-pound estimate) for his age. Level swing, he has shown good power in his two years on the varsity and can go the opposite way. Good baserunner. Worked the count well at the plate.
Ludlow vs Minnechaug - 5/4/16
By Dean Bonneau
Co-Director of Scouting
Brian Tessicini, 2017, RHP, Minnechaug HS
Scouting Report: Fast worker with great command, fastball 77-81 mph. 5’10”/5’11” right-handed pitcher, who attacks hitter, gets ahead in counts, works low in the zone, and commands all of his pitches. Didn’t allow a baserunner until the fourth inning. Mechanically, he stays balanced on his post leg and leads with his hip well. He tends to lose momentum on his front side as he drops his lead shoulder, but makes up for it with a quick arm circle so that he is back to a balanced position as he strides. Shows great composure on the hill and could be a very effective pitcher with a few mechanical tweaks.
Bristol Central Scouting Notes - 5/4/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Noah Plantamauro, SS, Bristol Central, 2017
Scouting Report: Second time I’ve seen this kid in the last three weeks, kid can flat out play. Offensively is his best tool, stance is even, balanced, hands held high. The lower half is under control, uses his legs well. In game swings were very good, collected 1B, 2B and had a real good swing on a ball hit to deep CF, this was off a very good arm. Defensively, hands and feet work well, actions to and through ball are good. The arm is clean, short quick throws, average carry at best, might not have enough from the hole, will need to see more. Definitely can play SS and easily could move to second and will hit enough to play third. Reminds me of a kid from Bristol Chris Klepps, who turned out to be a chalk player.
Lowell vs North Andover - 5/3/16
By Mark Andrick
Co-Director of Scouting
Henry Funaro, RHP, Lowell, 2017
Scouting Report: Another very big kid, 6’3” 215-pound with very good potential on the mound. Works exclusively over the top with delivery, great job getting and staying on top with his curve, did not let his arm slide down. Curve was 66-71 mph with outstanding movement, sharp break almost 12/6 but with a cut to it at the end, was impressive. Relied too much on fastball at times which was an above-average 81-83 mph, maxing out at 85. Showed excellent control as well until he ran into some trouble, however his defense really let him down in this one. Created a lot of defensive swings from good North Andover hitters, also swung the bat fairly well. Should be someone to watch going into his senior year.
Morgan Scouting Notes - 5/2/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Cooper Thompson, RHP, Morgan, 2017
Scouting Report: Physical frame, plenty of room to fill out. Right-handed pitcher fastball was 81-85 mph, lived down in the zone with sink to the arm side. Pitches to both side of the plate with FB, 2-seamers to arm-side and 4-seamers to glove side. The change up has a chance to be an above average pitch, comes out of the same slot, with sink and depth, was thrown at 75-76 mph. The breaking ball, needs to turn into a slider, curveball is in the mid to high-60s.The slot is perfect for a slider, with his hand speed he should be able to develop this pitch over time. Controlled the running game, with a quarter kick, times were 1.0-1.25. Velocity continues to climb, get out and see, much more in the tank.
Westhill Scouting Notes - 4/29/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Michael Lisinicchia, RHP, INF, Westhill, 2017
Scouting Report: Average athletic frame, sloped shoulders, lower half is strong, hands have serious pop. A left-handed hitter, I’ve had the opportunity to see this kid a bunch and every time he hits for me. The stance is slightly open, gets closed off a bit after stride, hands are loose with some movement, just above his shoulder. The swing is level to up with a two-handed finish. The ball explodes off the bat, shows pop to all fields, hands are very quick. Collected a towering home run and drove a ball well to pull side. Showed good strike zone discipline. Off the mound, works from a high-¾ slot, arm action is short, more of crank action to it. The ball gets on hitter quick, hides ball extremely well behind frame. Fastball was 84-88 mph with life, curveball has 11/5 break, showed a split for change. Legit two-way, projects out to be a backend guy in pen and corner player on defense, offensively has a serious chance.
Brien McMahon Scouting Notes - 4/29/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Anthony Socci, C, Brien McMahon, 2018
Scouting Report: Physical athletic frame for his age, hands and legs very strong. A right-handed hitting catcher, his arm is his best tool, showed serious life to throws. Blocked well in game, solid receiver. The stance at the plate is balanced, hands held high. Need to see more, looks to be above average behind the plate for his age.
Austin Prep vs Medford - 4/28/16
By Mark Andrick
Co-Director of Scouting
Logan Bravo, SS, Austin Prep, 2018
Scouting Report: Kid has the potential to be a really special player. Already 6’2/6’3”, slender but very athletic, needs to fill out a little bit but only a sophomore. Showed excellent pop, with a nice level swing and sprayed the ball to all fields. Lead-off hitter, with some speed, literally crushed the ball in each of his four at bats, only had one hit to show for it. Was right on everything, well-disciplined and had great at bats, really impressive for a young kid. His weakness was his defense, still very raw, short may not be the best spot for him, was shaky and didn’t plant his feet when he threw to first at times, tried to rush. Again, tons of potential, definite Division I candidate.
Chicopee vs Northampton - 4/28/16
By Dean Bonneau
Co-Director of Scouting
Andy Grygorcewicz, RHP, Northampton HS, 2018
Scouting Report: Tall, lanky, right-handed pitcher, solid mechanics, downhill throwing plane, with a fastball that sits 74-75 mph. Loses some momentum on his delivery when he slows down his back side as he strides forward, with slow arm speed. His repeatable delivery allows him control his fastball well, work both sides of the plate and he is not afraid to challenge hitters inside. Tends to leave fastball waist-high, which led to hard contact up the middle of the field, especially early on. Curveball has good depth, not much of an “out pitch”, but serves well to keep hitters honest. He threw a lot of strikes and pitched to contact.
Masuk and St. Joseph Scouting Notes - 4/27/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Nick LoRusso, RHP/SS, Masuk, 2018
Scouting Report: 6-foot, athletic frame, hands are strong, back is wide, with room for added weight. One of the better right-handed arms in the class of 2018, the delivery is easy, hands held high, and slightly off the right side of his body. The leg raise is simple has a little coil to it at its peak, the arm action is short quick and has some velocity to it as it comes through the release point. On release is squared up to the plate, loses front side, just after release could stay on it a bit longer. Fastball was 82-85 mph, with a sprinkle of some 87s. Pounded the fastball down in the zone to both sides, change has a chance to be an above average pitch, was thrown for strikes and had some swings and misses. The curveball was 68-70 mph, had proper shape to it. Velocity should continue to climb. Offensively, shows a balanced approach, in games swing were good, has a middle of the field approach. Defensively, plays up the middle, the word is he can really pick it, need to see him. PBR CT/RI has invited him to take part in the Future Games, in Indiana in August.
Wilton HS Scouting Notes - 4/26/16
By New England Area Scout
Dillon Lifrieri, SS, Wilton, 2018
Scouting Report: Excellent looking athlete with room to add muscle to his frame. He played SS and showed solid footwork and hands on the balls he played. Demonstrated a plus arm across the infield. Sometimes can drop his arm angle slightly which can impact accuracy. Balanced stance at the plate. He stayed back nicely in his first 2 at bats on changeups to drive a double to left field and a sac fly to centerfield. A very athletic kid who plays above his 2018 class. Shows plus power to both gaps. Potential to play at a very high level.
East Lyme vs Guilford - 4/26/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Matthew Abbey, OF, East Lyme, 2017
Scouting Report: Average athletic frame, hands are strong. A right-handed hitter, the stance is even and balanced, bat is flat on his shoulder. Shows good gap power driving a laser to right center gap. Runs alright, was 4.47 from home to first on ground ball to short. Defensively, plays left, routes are good and arm is average with some carry to it. Projects as a corner outfielder with raw power, someone to go see, will be playing for the CT Capitals this summer.
Naugatuck vs Holy Cross - 4/23/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Joseph Kwaak, 1B, Naugatuck, 2018
Scouting Report: Physical athletic frame, hands and wrists are strong. A right-handed hitter, stance is open to even, keeps his hands inside the ball well, looks to drive it to all fields. Collected two hits on the day, both line drives. Shows plus bat speed, is an average runner. Defensively, plays first, shows soft hands and footwork is advanced around the bag. The arm action is clean, opens frontside early, cold stay closed. Shows the ability to swing the bat with above average power for his age.
St. John's Prep vs Malden Catholic - 4/21/16

Jack Arend, C, St. John’s Prep, 2016
Scouting Report: Excellent defensive catcher with outstanding arm and release point. Very quick feet and instincts behind the plate, pop 1.3, he picked a runner off throwing behind the batter with a laser to the first baseman, also caught the only runner trying to steal with a perfect throw to second. Displays great leadership qualities. Smaller, stocky build but athletic. Showed a good eye at the plate but nothing noteworthy with the bat. Size will likely limit him at the next level but great skills as a catcher.
The Morgan School vs North Branford - 4/22/16
By Trevor Brown
Co-Director of Scouting
Cooper Thompson, RHP, Morgan, 2017
Scouting Report: Cooper a right-handed pitcher, is a 3-pitch pitcher with a high-¾ slot. Fastball was sitting in the low-80s, with good run and sinking movement, can also spot his 4 seam with little movement on the pitch. Curveball has a 11/5 break, clocked in the mid-60s. Changeup was sitting mid-70s with more sink than his two seam FB. Throws every pitch with the same arm speed, tough to pick up the pitches. Pounded the strike zone with all 3 pitches.

Rory Bordiuk, RHP, Lincoln-Sudbury, 2018
Scouting Report: Smaller build 5’8/5’9” and maybe 160 lbs. Showed good location and poise on the mound for a sophomore. Featured an above average curveball with good late breaking action to it and a lot of movement. Curve was between 65-68 mph. His control was excellent for the most part with his fastball ranging from 76-79 mph. Should be a very good pitcher if he grows and gains some more arm strength over the next couple of years. He was the starting pitcher, lasting 4 innings, he allowed five hits, 2 earned runs with 4 strikeouts.
Wakefield vs Reading - 4/15/16

Adam Chanley, RHP, Wakefield H.S, 2016
Scouting Report: Medium build with some pop to his fastball, ranging from 80-82 mph. Was able to locate his fastball well and over-match most hitters. Rising fastball that sneaks up of hitters, also showed an above average changeup.
Corey DiLoreto, LF, Reading H.S, 2017
Scouting Report: Very big kid, 6’3”, slender but athletic build, will be huge if and when he fills out. Very quick bat and hard swing with big time power potential. Excellent feet and first step in the outfield. Overall an outstanding athlete, has been looked at for both baseball and football at Division I, wants to play baseball. Great recruit.
Colchester vs Harwood Union - 4/14/16
By Bruce Bosley

Derek Sanderson, RHP, Colchester, 2016
Scouting Report: Sanderson who was clocked in the low-90s last fall at a PBR event in New Hampshire, was overpowering in the early innings against a young Harwood lineup (five sophomores in the lineup) with good command of a low fastball. His wide breaking hard slider was also very effective and he used it as a strikeout pitch several times when he was ahead in the count. Three times it was too sharp with three wild pitches, twice allowing struck out hitters to reach first. He used his fastball to work both sides of the plate and it was more effective in the first two innings with shadows from the sunny day covering the mound.
Trumbull Scouting Notes - 4/11/16

Jack Lynch, OF, Trumbull, 2017
Scouting Report: Frame is very long and loose, has plenty of room for future development. Offensively, hits from the left side, uses a spread out approach, hands are held high above his shoulder. The swing path is clean level to up, has a classic left-handed swing. The barrel stays in the zone a good amount of time. In game at bats were good, collected a base hit to left center, had a successful sac bunt and a line out to right field. Defensively, has made a switch from the infield to outfield, patrolled center, arm is clean with some carry. The upside is very high, get out and see him.
Amherst vs Saint Peter-Marian - 4/10/16
By Dean Bonneau

Nathan Masteralexis, LHP, Amherst, 2017
Scouting Report: He was effectively wild and managed to make important pitches in big spots. His lack of control led to a high pitch count, forcing him out of the game after five innings. Short, lanky build and can throw three pitches (Fastball, Changeup, Curveball) all for strikes. Mostly works arm-side, with a heavy mix of fastballs and changeups, each of which are very effective when kept down in the zone. He has the ability to throw his curveball for a strike, but it primarily serves as a “get-me-over” breaking pitching to keep hitters off-balance. Fastball and changeup are both “plus” pitches and his curveball will get hit hard by more patient hitters. Mechanically, he does not generate much power from his lower half and relies on a quick arm. He tends to open up early and fall off to his glove side, frequently missing up in the zone, when trying to get more on his fastball.
Fairfield Prep Jesuits v Trumbull High School Eagles - 4/6/16
By EJ Ash

Joseph Nemcheck, LHP, Trumbull HS, 2016
Scouting Report: Average athletic frame. Worked quickly and efficiently with a ¾ slot. Fastball clocked in at 77-82 mph and sat at 80 mph most of the game. Has quick feet and a plus pickoff move, getting 1 out in a straight pick in the 1st inning and then again at an attempted steal. Curveball was good with a 10/4 break and was thrown accurately in any count. He expanded the zone with his fastball and showed he can finish batters with both pitches. Worked 5.2 innings striking out 8, gave up 1 hit and 5 BBs, 1 HBP.
AP Academy Pitcher Workout - 3/7/16
By Dean Bonneau
Asst Director of Scouting PBR New England
Bryan Tessicini, RHP, Minnechaug Regional HS, 2017
Scouting Report: Has good tempo to fastball and changeup, they both look similar out of hand. Fastball was 81-84 mph with run. Has a loose arm, repeatable drop and drive delivery, with good hand separation and arm extension. The momentum towards plate falls off glove side slightly with fastball.
RBI Academy - GBG Hawks - 2/28/16
By Dennis Healy
Co-Director of Scouting
Tyler LaFreniere, C/OF, North Attleboro HS, 2017
Scouting Report: At the plate, showed a decent bat, short to ball with little pop. Displayed a balanced load and even swing plane. Solid build, with some size he can better his swing/exit velocity.
Defensively, catching is his strong. Smooth transfer and release. Footwork are clean and showed a strong arm, top catching prospect at the workout.
