New England Insider: Class of 2019 Player Rankings (August)

With the Spring and Summer seasons behind us, we look at some of the prospects throughout the New England region. There are a number of good high school players throughout the area and below is a list of some of the better players in the region.

We have seen numerous prospects over the past spring and summer at PBR events, local workouts and games from across the region, and a lot of time and thought put in from our staff with these updated rankings.

That being said, we have had the pleasure of seeing a number of solid players this past spring and summer. Prospects are popping up left and right, making velocity jumps, improving 60-yard dash times and showing more power with the bat.

Covering six states, New England is a prime area for legit baseball talent and now we would like to bring to you the updated 2019 Player Rankings.

Daniel BaruchWhat's New at the Top

  • Daniel Baruch, OF/1B out of Wheeler in Rhode Island maintains the top spot in New England. The right-handed hitting can really roll the pole.
  • Sebastian Keene, newcomer and number #2, committed to Northeastern has shown well on the summer scene. The North Andover student projects and shows pitchability.
  • Chad Knight , #3, hitter out of Staples had a solid year. The Duke commit should have another banner campaign this coming year.
  • Henry Weycker, #4, one of my favorites, left-hander out of Wellesley is a good one. The Virginia Tech commit has impressive stuff for the next level.
  • Billy Seidl, #11, right-hander out of St Sebastians showed extremely well at the Area Codes, garnering himself a commitment to Duke.
  • Alex Lane, #14, big and physical right-handed hitting catcher headed to Bryant is a serious dude based off of what I saw.

The Risers

Jack DonofrioEvery year there are surprises in high school baseball. Some relatively unknown player takes a huge jump in talent and it impacts the game. These are just a few players that have made significant jumps at their respective showcases and games over the last couple months.

  • Evan Sleight, up to #6, the Belmont Hill student and Virginia commit is an impressive left-handed banger.
  • Jack Donofrio, comes in at #9, the Notre Dame commit had a serious jump this summer. His best days are ahead of him.
  • Jeff Larosa, #10, had an excellent showing in Indianapolis. Has some offers on the table, and the Conard student should flourish wherever he lands.
  • Sean O’Connell, recently committed to Elon, the BC High student has really come on this summer.
  • Stephen Simoes, made a significant jump this summer, as the left-handed hitting second baseman can play the game. He is worth seeing play a couple times.
  • Cristian Mercedes, a fast twitch athlete, a legit 6.6 runner, swing is built to go gap to gap, look for him to move to the outfield.
