Neuqua Valley Extends Winning Streak To 7

SOUTH ELGIN, IL- Behind the pitching of Will Drake and a 12-hit attack, Neuqua Valley extended its winning streak to 7 games Tuesday afternoon with a 7-2 victory over South Elgin.
The Widlcats got things started in the top of the first as Zach Herdman walked to lead off the game and came around to score on a single by Kevin Ringlein and a misplay by the righfielder. South Elgin tied the game in the bottom of the 2nd when Mitch Butvilas came around to score on an error after doubling with two outs. Neuqua added single runs in the 4th and 5th innings to take a 3-1 lead. South Elgin cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the 5th thanks to a sacfly from Kevin Barry.
Clinging to a on run lead Neuqua sent 10 men to the plate in the 6th inning scoring four times to push their lead to 7-2 en route to the victory. Wildcat starter Will Drake relatively cruised through the game working 7 innings allowing just 4 hits and an earned run.
Neuqua Valley improves to 14-4 and extends its winning streak to 7 games. South Elgin drops to 11-3 on the season. Both teams return to action tomorrow in game 2 of the 3 game series in Naperville.
