The Natural State Games wrapped up Sunday with 4 games hosted on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas. It was a competitive day through out. Let us take a look at some notes from day two. We will work through video and reports on all players over the next few weeks.

2018

OF- Trey Harris, stood out as an advanced athlete with a productive offensive day. He recorded 4 hits on the day including a hustle double and triple. He created havoc on the base paths, stealing multiple bases and advancing on balls in the dirt. Defensively he showed solid instincts and played through the baseball with fluid footwork. Uncommitted

RHP- Blake Pschier; worked a sharp 3 innings with 7 strike outs. He commanded the strike zone with two quality pitches. His fastball worked down in the strike zone with slight sink and he commanded his curveball, with 11/5 shape with late break and adequate depth.  Uncommitted

2019

RHP- Will McEntire; physically dominating presence on the mound. He attacked the strike zone consistently. Complimented the fastball with a 10/4 sharp slider with late break. Mechanically repeats his simple delivery and maintains good arm angles, throwing from an H ¾ arm slot. He worked efficient in his three shutout innings. McEntire stood out has a player in the 2019 class that has made a large jump and will be a name in that recruiting conversations will pick up about.

OF- Cade White; A large framed player who showed a feel hit with multiple hard hit balls on the afternoon, including a hit and a sac fly. He has advanced bat speed, he starts from an athletic stance, with a simple load stride and attacks the baseball with a line drive swing, with some rotation to it. Defensively he showed the ability to compete both at first base and in the outfield.

C- Nick Jones; A solid athlete which showed the ability to play multiple position. He spent the majority of his time behind the plate. His results defensively were mixed as he showed the skills and effort to be very sound blocking and receiving but also struggled in that category. He threw pop times 2.12-2.39. Offensively the left-handed hitter showed a compact line drive swing that allows him to keep his barrel in the hit zone for an extended period of time.

2020

LHP- Jay Watson was dominant as he struck out 7 in 3 innings. The athletic left-hander worked with two quality pitches. His fastball worked down in the zone with late life through the strike zone. He also threw a curveball with 1/7 action with late action. His delivery is simple and repeated, he pitches from a ¾ arm slot with a quick arm. As he continues to mature he should throw harder.

RHP- Kalen Forst is an intriguing prospect he commanded the strike zone with two pitches and worked three shutout innings. He has a short quick arm action. He will throw harder as he learns to incorporate his lower half. His curveball had inconsistent shape but at times showed a feel to spin a breaking ball. Forst is raw, but his overall physical stature and quick arm, make him interesting enough for me to follow in the spring.

OF- Austin Wages; Wages showed one of the more impressive swings in the 2020 class throughout the event, as he consistently hit balls hard including a 2 doubles. He has a large frame and an average build. He starts from an athletic stance, he repeats his load stride and shows the ability to be on time consistently. Defensively he was sound as a corner infielder. Overall Wages is an advanced hitter that will be fun to watch in the spring.

LHP/OF Matthew Magre; A serious two way player. On the mound he worked in the strike zone consistently with a fastball, curveball combination. Offensively he showed the ability to drive the baseball with hands that stay inside the baseball and generate bat speed. He projects to hit for power as he learns to incorporate the lower half more consistently

2021

LHP Brandon Arledge; Showed advanced composure pitching out of a jam in his final inning of work. He pitched with a fastball and a slider from a ¾ arm slot. He the slider sweeps across the strike zone and he used it to put hitters away. Arledge is physically advanced for his age and has a quick arm, with some funk to the action, which adds to his deception.
