A stellar trip back to the Boot (Louisiana) culminated in PBR Louisiana’s prestigious All-State Games which were held at the home of six-time JuCo National Champion, LSU-Eunice. The event brought together some of the most talented players that the state has to offer in each of the four high school classes (2021-2024). With a live-feed streaming the action, and PBR Louisiana Scouting Director, Alex Armand, providing insightful information on each player, college coaches were able to tune in to watch and evaluate. And they did, as one uncommitted player made a commitment to a Division 1 school the following day.

Overall, the event shined light on the future prospects in Louisiana, and more intriguingly, what to watch for in the spring. Below are just some of the standouts, both committed and uncommitted, that stood out:

Gavin Guidry SS / RHP / Barbe, LA / 2022

One of the top prospects in the country, the uncommitted Guidry did not disappoint in his showing at the event. Wide-shouldered with a high waist at 6-foot-2, 170-pounds, Guidry will likely hold considerably more strength on an uber-athletic frame that actually lost close to 20 pounds over the summer due to an illness. He began the day comfortably running a 6.75 60-yard dash time with long, graceful strides. At the plate, the right-handed hitter works uphill with intent to do damage in the air including an exit velocity up to 93 mph per Trackman with a max distance of 353 feet. He remains well-connected and compact throughout the approach with the hands loading freely before quickly working the barrel through the zone. The balance stands out and allows for controlled aggression, and his ability to drive the ball to the back side gap is sure to excite MLB scouts moving forward, especially as his frame continues to develop. Always on his toes, Guidry plays with bounce on the infield including smooth glove-to-hand transfers that allow a strong (92 mph) arm to play with carry across the diamond. Only amplifying his status as an elite prospect in the class, Guidry hopped on the mound and dominated late in the day by working 88-92 (up to 2432 RPM) with an efficient fastball that found lots of success up in the zone before dropping in a sharp, downer curveball at 75-76 for swings and misses. Overall, Guidry presents a profile that is easy to dream on, and given the strong track record of success and high-profile prospects that Barbe High School churns out, he has a chance to be the next in line.
