NY Games: A Thank You from Scouting Director Jared Carrier
June 28, 2017
Jared Carrier
Scouting Director, NY
Despite dealing with constant threats of weather, a few hail storms, lightning and rain the 3rd Annual New York Games were completed without major complications. We send a heartfelt "Thank You" first and foremost to our gracious hosts at Binghamton University, Maine-Endwell HS and Union-Endicott HS. Not only did they have outstanding complexes but were on top of their game in helping with the flow and communication of the event; providing great flexibility as things needed to be adjusted over the 3 days.
Secondly, we thank the parents and players who were able to carve some time out of their busy schedules. The late nights and early morning turn-arounds are never easy, the bouncing from one location to another with barely enough time to grab a bite to eat can make for a chaotic day. Players- Make sure you thank Mom, Dad or whoever shuttled you around. To the parents at Union-Endicott HS after the Pro Case who helped handle an emergency situation in the parking lot after the game, your cool and collective actions we're greatly appreciated.
To the attending coaches...a major "Thank You". We know many of you utilize the Scout Plus and cruise the website and our social media outlets with regularity. To be here, in person, sandwiched around other major national events is proof that the PBR-NY Games is becoming an elite Northeast event. We had 4 MLB scouts in attendance, some for multiple days. Eight attended the Pro Case. The busiest people on the planet made time for us.
Our sponsors, DICK'S Sporting Goods and Wegmans. Two well known businesses with ties to the Empire State, who were able to help make this a success. Every player received a cinch sack, water bottle and 20% off discount towards an in-store purchase from Dick's on Sunday night.
Finally, to our staff of nearly 30: You made this event! A plan is only as good as it's execution and you nailed it. We had 10 team coaches, 3 field supervisors, rovers, volunteers, assistants at off-field locations. Everyone pulled the rope in the same direction. Casey Roche of Diamond Kinetics who now has made the trip to NY three times in the last year and knocks it out of the park each time. PBR-New Jersey Scouting Director TJ Hunt and Axcess Baseball's Vinny Messana didn't miss a beat.
Mother Nature..Your bark was worse then your bite. Unfortunately for you we had two turf complexes and a great crew at Union-Endicott. No matter what your plans were to ruin the day, we were able counteract them. Hopefully we've earned your respect and you will allow of our events this summer to go off without a hitch!
