NC: Rolesville Upsets Leesville in Rd 1

Rolesville HS 5 Leesville Road HS 2
PBR was on hand for a NCHSAA 4A 1st Round matchup in Raleigh. Leesville Rd, champions of the Cap Six 4A hosted Rolesville HS out of the Northern Athletic 4A.
Leesville jumped out first, plating two runs in the bottom of the 3rd. The Rams would answer right back with a big 4 run top of the 4th. All four runs were unearned as the Pride outfielders struggled with windy conditions in their home field.
In the 7th, the Rams would add an insurance run as speedster Michael Gupton scored from 2B on a SAC Bunt, moving Rolesville to the 5-2 lead.
Each team finished the game with 8 hits. Rolesville split the game between three arms with Felix Quintero working the first 3, followed by Nate Hollenbeck, who also went 3, picking up the win. Dylan Mason threw a scoreless 7th to pick up a save. Leesville ace Cole Lanford worked 5 innings, striking out 10, but gave up the 4 unearned runs.
The loss ends Leesville’s season at 14-7. The Rams advance to the 2nd round where they will face Topsail HS. The Rams will enter that game at 18-9 overall.
