Rusher’s Blast Ends It Early
In game 1 of Day 2 at the Intimidator Classic at the Kannapolis Intimidators Stadium, Salisbury HS made quick work of Mount Pleasant HS. The Hornets used an 11 hit attack, including a walk-off HR from Bo Rusher to win 11-1 in 5 innings.
Offensively, the Hornets came out of the gate posting 4 runs on 4 hits in the first. Joe Steinman finished the day 3-3 with 3 RBI, collecting two of the RBIs in the first on a line drive single to CF. While the offense continued to jab away, with 10 singles, the game ending blast came from Bo Rusher, with two runners on. Rusher turned on a middle-in fastball depositing over the double-wall protecting the RF bullpen.
On the mound, senior Will Taylor worked 5 efficient innings, pounding the zone with sinking fastball and overhand breaking ball. Not overpowering, he induced 5 ground balls and collected 3 strikeouts. In the first, he wiggled out of a 2nd and 3rd no out situation with a strikeout, pop up to first and a fly ball to right.
