The state of Minnesota has a deep 2017 class with above average talent with 28 Division I recruits, but RHP Sam Carlson (Burnsville HS, MN) stands above them all. He has received the most attention by a high school product in the state since Joe Mauer in 2001.
Sam Carlson, RHP, Burnsville HS, MNA Florida recruit, Carlson has a long, lean frame and projection at 6-foot-4, 200 pounds. He prepares to pitch with a purpose and has an imposing presence on the mound. He’s in control of the game at all times. His delivery is clean, directional and he lands with a closed toe on a strong front side. His arm action is short, clean and quick through a high-3/4 slot.
