The third of four Wisconsin Preseason I.D. Showcases is now in the books with the Milwaukee Preseason I.D. Showcase wrapping up yesterday. Several of the state’s already ranked players showed off the hard work of their off-season, while a number of under the radar prospects came to the forefront. Here’s a look at a few standouts from Sunday’s event.

• A pair of 2018 left-handed hitters in Gunner Peterson (Wilmot) and Alex Binelas (Oak Creek) had big days with the bat. Peterson showed off explosive bat speed registering 96 mph exit velocity, he also ran a 6.92 60-yard dash and threw 88 mph from the outfield. No. 2 ranked 2018 Alex Binelas turned in the best stat line of day runnig a 6.69 60-yard dash, threw 89 mph across the infield, and registered and event best 103 mph exit velocity.

• No. 7 ranked 2018 and Illinois commit C Jacob Campbell (Janesville Craig) has a added strength to his frame at 6-foot, 200-pounds. Campbell ran a 7.02 60-yard dash and registered a 95 mph exit velocity. Behind the plate he made accurate throws with carry popping 1.94-2.01 and throwing 82 mph from the crouch.

• A trio of 2019 LHP’s caught the attention of our staff Connor Prilepp (Tomah) made the biggest jump of any young arms sitting and easy 85-86 mph,  Trent Ehlers (Sturgeon Bay) follow suit with a big fastball of his own touching 84 mph with a 12/6 curveball and Andrew Biertzer (West Bend West) showed off a live arm sitting 82-84 mph with his fastball.

• Sticking with southpaws, 2020 LHP Tommy Lamb (Grafton) is a high pitchability guy with smooth mechanics and easy effort working 80-81 topping out at 82 mph with his fastball. He showed feel for his changeup at 71-73 mph for strikes. On the other side of the rubber, 2020 RHP George Klassen (Port Washington) reached back for an 83 mph with his fastball.

• 2019 OF/RHP Drew Leszcynski (Brookfield Central) showed a big arm all day, throwing 91 mph from the outfield and working 84-86 topping out at 87 mph with his fastball on the mound.

• The middle infield crop was led by Illinois commit Xavier Watson (South Milwaukee, 2019) who’s frame has filled out with what looks like a ton of time in the weight room this off-season. Keep an eye on a few 2020’s who may follow similar footsteps - Eric Erato (Sussex Hamilton) and Colton Coca (Case) to name a few.

• 2018 Michael Lepow (Case) looks to have made a jump this offseason, the athletic outfielder put up an impressive line, running a 6.72, 88 mph from the outfield and 88 mph exit velocity from the tee.
