Already we’ve rolled out reports on 2018 and 2019 prospects competing in the Midwest Prospect League (MPL) at Grand Park in Westfield, IN. The MPL featured top-level travel programs’ 15U, 16U and 17U teams all at Grand Park’s state-of-the-art complex and some neighboring fields. From a scouting and competition perspective, it was one of the best events I’ve been to in a while, certainly one that will require more than one guy next year.
Nevertheless, this scouting notebook focuses solely on a handful of 2020 prospects that I saw over the course of two days during the four-day tournament …
AJ VUKOVICHSS / EAST TROY, WI / 2020Rankings State Rank:2 POS:1 Overall Rank:59 POS:13
Louisville recruit. 6-foot-5, 185-pound right-handed hitting infielder with lanky athletic build, wide shoulders and long legs; looks to be still growing into his frame. Overall highly advanced hitter with big future power potential. Barreled up everything thrown his way in two-plus games scouting the Wisconsin Hitters, including smashing a down-and-in upper-80s fastball into the left-field trees for a home run. Also tripled to right field, lined a hanging curveball up the middle, got fooled on a slider and wrist-flicked it up the middle, and rapped two other singles to left field. For his size and swing length, he shows highly advanced barrel awareness. |
