COLUMBIA, TN - The Middle TN Open + Rising Stars showcase were both held on Tuesday, June 28th at Dave Hall Field on the campus of Columbia State CC. This event was an open event that consisted of 32 prospects from the 2023-2027 classes. These players went through a pro-style workout and took batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion to record hitting metrics. Pitchers were able to throw bullpens and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Tuesday.

Kicking off our post-event coverage for these events, we take a look back at some of the top performers and standouts from the each day. Continuing over the course of the next week or so, we will release Statistical Leaderboards for the event then transition into releasing individual scouting reports for each player in attendance.

Quick Hits: Day One

Elijah Verge, OF, Lipscomb Academy, 2023
Uncommitted. 5-foot-11, 200-lb outfielder had a nice showing overall. Big frame w/ strong lower half. Slightly open stance w/ high hand load. Posted the top bat speed (T 76.3; Avg: 68.1) and rotational acceleration (T 29 G; Avg: 25.1 G). Gets on plane early, working the opposite gap with hard line drives ( T 85.6 exit velocity). Defensively, aggressive on groundballs in OF w/ 88 OF velocity and accuracy on throws. Posted 7.38 sixty and physicality slots him as a corner OF at the next level.

Taryc Washington, OF, Nolensville, 2023
Uncommitted. 6-1, 152-lb long wiry frame w/ room to add strength. At the plate, open stance w/ simple hand load and compact swing. Generates average bat speed (T 68.7) and does a solid job getting on plane (Avg: 72% on plane efficiency) while peppering mix of ground balls and line drives w/ pull side approach. Defensively, 7.29 sixty and good feet attacking balls in the outfield w/ 84 OF velocity. Future profile looks to fit as corner outfielder w/ solid speed and arm strength, who can put pressure on defenses at the plate w/ potential to add strength and hit for more power.

Jordan Reffeor, MINF, Wiesbaden (Germany), 2023
Uncommitted. 5-9, 140-lb lean, wiry frame w/ room to add strength. The middle infielder from Germany really impressed defensively w/ good actions all-around. Smooth footwork, good hands w/ crisp transfers and quick release plus solid arm strength (76 INF velocity). Offensively, LHH slightly open stance while striding closed. Generates average bat speed (T 67.4) and above average in rotational acceleration (T 20.4 G) and hand speed (T 22.2) while spraying line drives gap to gap (T 87 exit velocity). 7.33 sixty and looks to be a better fit at 2B due to size and limited strength, but very sound with the glove.

Riley Martin, RHP/OF, Smith Co, 2027
Uncommitted. 6-1, 168-lb prospect w/ two way potential. Tall, slender frame w/ plenty of projection. Really stood out on the mound w/ loose, quick arm and easy arm stroke. FB worked 82-85 w/ life and carry thru the zone. Potential to beat bats with elevated FB with good spin qualities (T 2308 rpm; Avg: 2220 rpm). Mixed sharp SL at 68-71 (T 2514 rpm) w/ good shape & action. Inconsistent CH, but showed some flashes to be solid third offering. Positionally, tall stance w/ big scap load and modified leg kick. Pull side approach with flashes of power potential (T 86.2 exit velocity). Logged 7.57 sixty and 83 OF Velocity. Lot of upside in the frame and arm for Martin, very impressive stuff on the mound and potential for two-way as he develops.

Colie Reynolds, RHP/3B, Clarksville, 2026
Uncommitted, 6-2, 170-lb tall, projectable frame w/ some strength. At the plate, slightly open stance w/ high hand load and leg kick. Generates average bat speed for age and solid job getting on plane w/ good extension and middle/gap-to-gap approach (T 88.3; Avg: 83.1 exit velo). Defensively, average at 3B w/ solid arm strength (78 INF Velocity) from high release point. Not a strong runner or overly athletic, but showed big upside on the mound. Long, loose arm action from high slot. Attacked the zone and showed ability to mix effectively. FB worked 77-81 (T 2047 rpm; Avg: 2013 rpm) w/ some life and slight sink at times. Mixed slurry breaking ball at 68-70 (T 2124 rpm) w/ decent bite and good tunnel off FB. Mixed CH at 73-75 as solid third offering.

Carter Winders, C/INF, Crockett Co, 2026
Uncommitted. 5-foot-8, 170-lb compact frame w/ some strength. At the plate, looks to do damage w/ modified leg kick. Swings with authority w/ gap-to-gap approach, spraying hard liners to all fields. On the infield, plays low, good rhythm and tempo with feet. Best infield velocity at 78 mph and adjustability in arm action. Behind the plate, good setup and quick burst on bunt plays. Smooth transfer with good carry on throws and strong accuracy (T 2.04 pop time; T 75 C Velocity). Really developed over the past year and being more physical, gonna be a young prospect to follow.
