On Saturday, February 10th, the PBR Mid-Atlantic ProCase will add to our pro coverage and give scouts the first look of the new year into the 2018 draft class along with select 2019 and 2020 grads

The Super 60, held in Chicago at the beginning of February, has become one of the more well attended pro showcases on the circuit, simply due to the caliber of players in attendance. We have seen more than 100 professional scouts year after year at the Super 60. Similarly, the ProCase will bring draft potential candidates from our area into one location to showcase their abilities in front of the professional scouting community.

The event will be held in Henrico, VA at the TSI Training Center, which includes a full sized infield that will allow for open hitting and plenty of room for defensive evaluations.

Since its inception in 2005, the Prep Baseball Report has evolved into one of the country’s biggest and most respected independent scouting services, with a singular focus of providing comprehensive coverage in every state. Now, more than 850 colleges and pro scouts subscribe to the Prep Baseball Report services.  We take great pride in providing the most thorough and comprehensive high school baseball coverage in each state.

We continue our breakdown of the talent who will be in attendance.

Mid-Atlantic ProCase Spotlight: Jack Bulger

Scouting Report

7/2017

Bulger has used this year to show why he should be considered one of the top offensive prospects of the 2020 class. A strong spring season at DeMatha followed up by an impressive summer circuit for the catching prospect. Defensively, this was where we saw the most improvement in Bulgers game, as his athleticism has caught up to his skill set behind the dish, becoming much more comfortable in game with soft hands and a quiet receiver. Combined with his strong arm and 1.9 pop, Bulger is forming himself into a high end catching prospect.

1.21.17 (Freshmen Free Showcase) - Strong athletic frame at 5-foot-11, 195-pounds. An explosive hitting catching prospect that should be a top player in the state throughout his high school career. Ran a 4.24 home to first. Hits from an athletic, slightly open setup. Short rock-back load with swagger. Good rhythm throughout. Creates explosive bat speed with pull side power. Gets nice extension through contact. Exit velocity of 103 mph. Somewhat stiff while receiving, should continue to get more comfortable and then his natural athleticism will take over. Quick feet and hands on exchange in pop throws. Fast release and carry on throws. Catcher velocity of 76 mph with a pop time that ranged from 1.88 - 1.97.

10.6.16 - Physically strong for young age at 5-foot-11, 185-pounds. Impressive quick twitch behind the plate with a short arm action on throws down to second. Pop times consistently 2.0 and and as low as 1.98. Still needs to develop as a receiver and blocker, which he shows the athleticism to do as much. Showed quick hands at the plate and strength at the plate with a power ability that is advanced for his age.
