The summer season is winding down, and the amount of Michigan talent that has made its way onto the national scene has been extremely fun to follow. The 2017 rankings have seen numerous additions over the summer months and will continue to see other additions as we get closer to the start of the 2017 high school season.
We will take a look at a few players that have seen their stock in the 2017 class rise recently, as well as a few new additions to the rankings as the list reveals the top 200 players.
TOP OF THE CLASS
The new 2017 rankings have some new names at the top that have burst onto the scene over the past six months. Outfielder Steve Mann (Country Day HS, Duke commit) has landed the number 1 ranking, moving up one slot from number 2. Mann had a tremendous high school and summer season, thus landing him a scholarship to play for the Blue Devils of Duke University. During his sophomore season at Country Day, Mann batted .385 with 8 2B, 6 3B, 2 HR, 30 R, 20 RBIs, 23 BB, and 21 SB. During the summer playing for Arsenal Baseball, Mann hit .450 with 28 RBI, 25 SB, 8 HR, 4 3B, and 15 2B. The 5-tool athlete runs a 6.62 60-yard dash, has an 87 mph arm velocity from the outfield, and tremendous bat speed.
Sam Weatherly, (Howell HS, uncommitted) a left-handed pitcher and outfielder from Howell, has drastically seen his stock rise over the summer months.
