Michigan Draft Preview

By Andy Pascoe and Nathan Rode

The 2016 Major League Draft takes place June 9-11. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.

After seeing OF Nick Plummer (Brother Rice HS, MI) get popped by the Cardinals in the first round in 2015, it looked like another Warrior had a chance to be an early pick. RHP Karl Kauffmann (Brother Rice HS, MI) had high interest after last summer, but didn’t quite find a groove this spring. After him, there are a few players that may be late picks, but will certainly be factors down the road as college prospects.

76. Karl Kauffmann, RHP, Brother Rice HS, MI
A 6-foot-2, 205-pound Michigan recruit, Kauffmann works at a calm pace and uses his legs well, driving off the mound while displaying a quick arm. Last summer, Kauffmann typically ranged from 87-92 mph with his fastball while topping out at 95 mph with good sink.
