D-BAT Elite - 16U

+ Mason Brandenberger, LHP, Clifton HS, 2020
Uncommitted. 5-foot-9, 150-pounds, lean, athletic frame. Brandenberger showed solid pitchability with good feel for both his fastball and curveball. He works from a ¾ slot with a loose arm swing and repeatable delivery. His fastball flashed arm side run with sink at 80-82 mph through the first two innings, dipping down to 78-80 mph in the third and fourth. His curveball has nice 2-8 shape with solid depth at 69-72 mph.

+ Cam Brown, RHP/1B, Flower Mound HS, 2020
TCU recruit. 6-foot-2, 200-pound, strong, athletic frame. Brown is currently ranked No. 5 in the Texas 2020 Class Rankings that were released earlier this week. He was a strong performer on the mound at the Underclass Area Code Games in Long Beach. On Sunday, he swung a hot bat, collecting four hits in two games. The right-handed hitter has an athletic setup, simple swing, and strength at contact. In Game 1, Brown smoked a triple, running a 4.76 on the turn, and flew out to centerfield with a hang time of 6.2-seconds. In Game two, he had three well struck singles to left field.

+ Tyler Hamilton, RHP/OF, Parish Episcopal HS, 2019
Texas Tech recruit. 6-foot-1, 187-pounds. The right-hander started the second game on sunday, climbing the ladder in consecutive pitches, from 84-85-86-87 mph, settling into the 82-84 mph range in his second inning. His fastball flashes arm side run and he throws a short breaking curveball at 69-70 mph.

+ Slayton Day, C/RHP, Cleburne HS, 2020
Uncommitted. 5-foot-10, 185-pound frame. Day first stood out during pre-game when he was taking ground balls in left field, played through the ball with a bounce in his step, soft hands and rhythm. Caught during the game, showed athleticism, soft hands, accurate throws to second base. Good bat speed at the plate, had a double to left center in game 1, ran 5.0 on the turn. In the second game he had a single to left field and flew out on the barrel to centerfield. Good feel for the game, athletic player that will be fun to watch in the future.

+ Luke Savage, RHP/IF, Prestonwood HS, 2020
Uncommitted. 6-foot, 175-pound frame. Works from a high slot with a quick, clean, effortless arm swing and repeatable delivery. Fastball sat mostly 84 mph, flashing one at 85, with more to come.

+ Luke Piper, C, Guyer HS, 2020
Uncommitted. 6-foot, 180-pound, thick, strong frame. The right-handed hitter has very good bat speed, collecting two doubles in the second game. The first one he scorched on a line over the rightfielder’s head with back spin. The second (and most impressive), was a deep fly ball to right-centerfield. Piper kept his hands back and drilled a curveball deep to the right of centerfield.

+ Chad Brown, LHP/1B, McKinney Boyd HS, 2020
Uncommitted. 5-foot-10, 195-pound, thick, strong frame. The switch hitter collected hits from both sides of the plate, a single from the left side, and a double to left-centerfield from the right side. On the mound, the left-hander works from a low-¾ slot with a short arm stroke. His fastball has gradual sink at 82-83 mph, while his slider has mostly lateral, flat shape at 72 mph.

+ Martin Rodriguez, IF, Denton Ryan HS, 2020
Uncommitted. 5-foot-8, 147-pound frame. In the second game, the right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 with three quality at bats. After walking in his first AB, he hit an inside the park homerun to right-centerfield. He tripled to right field in his third at bat, and smoked a one-hop shot right at the second baseman in his last AB.

+ Carson Collins, OF/RHP, John Paull II HS, 2020
5-foot-10, 165-pound frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a short arm stroke that creates good arm side run on his fastball that sat 81-83 mph in his first inning of work. He also hammered a double to left-centerfield, driving in a run in his fourth AB.

Academy Select SunDevils

+ Gavin Perryman, OF/RHP, Jesuit HS, 2021
Uncommitted. Perryman has a long, lean, athletic frame at 6-foot-1, 165-pounds. He does a little bit of everything on the field, from playing centerfield, to filling in at shortstop during the middle innings, to closing out the game on the mound. The right-handed hitter has an open stance with an athletic swing, he only collected one hit, but has athletic strides and moves quick on the base paths, collecting a stolen base. On the mound, the right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with his fastball sitting mostly 80-81 mph, slider 68-69 mph, and changeup at 69-72 mph. With the game on the line and the bases loaded, Perryman reached back for a little more and got out of the inning, throwing his fastball 82-83 mph, his slider 72, and his changeup at 74. Word is that Perryman is also an accomplished basketball player, but with his projectable frame and athleticism, it’s easy to dream that he also has a bright future in baseball.

+ Nathaniel Price, C/OF, Mansfield Legacy HS, 2020
Uncommitted. 5-foot-9, 160-pound frame. Price has active feet behind, quick exchange and good arm strength for his size behind the plate. His pop times between innings were 2.0-2.2, and even though two of the throws one-hopped, all of them were online. Hitting from the left-side, the switch hitter hammered a ball to centerfield that was caught.

+ Jayden Hill, RHP/UT, Frisco HS, 2020
Uncommitted. 6-foot-1, 195-pound, sturdy frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a loose arm swing. His fastball sat mostly 82-83 mph, but did jump one time to 85 mph. His best offspeed pitch on Sunday was a changeup that came in at 74 mph.

+ Robert Fortenberry, LHP, Wakeland HS, 2021
Uncommitted. 5-foot-11, 157-pounds, long limbed frame. The left-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a short arm stroke. Fastball sat 79-81 mph. His curveball was inconsistent but showed 1-7 shape on one at 67 mph, and a slower one that rolled in at 62 mph.

+ Dakota Britt, OF, Rockwall Heath HS, 2020
Uncommitted. Britt has a quick twitch, wiry, athletic frame at 6-foot, 145-pounds. In the three-hole, the left-handed hitter only collected one knock, but was 3-for-4 in quality at-bats. He has good barrel awareness and loose finish, and his bat speed should continue to improve as he adds strength throughout his high school career. Britt had a single he slapped the other way to left field, a fly ball on the barrel to center, and a shallow fly ball to left, then walked in his last at-bat.

TEAM MSL

+ Chase Spencer, SS, Plano West HS, 2021
Uncommitted. 5-foot-11, 135-pound frame. Spencer started the game on the mound, working 79-80 mph from a high-¾ slot with a clean arm swing. His changeup was 74 mph, while his curveball flashes depth at 67 mph. The best part of Spencer’s game are his actions at shortstop, which are solid for his age and frame. He has soft hands, rhythm in his footwork, and a fundamental fielding position with his hands out front.

+ Team MSL had several other players that stood out, including a couple of infielder that play with a bounce in their step. 2021 1B Jaxon Weber (Hebron HS) has solid footwork around the bag at first base and moves around with good energy. The left-handed hitter has a flat swing and tends to hit off his front foot, but his hands work well with a loose finishes of the barrel. 2021 2B/SS Michael McGinnis (Marcus HS) has active footwork and attacks ground balls between innings, he had a single through the left side. 2021 IF Reece Parrott (Newman Smith HS) had a sharp single to right field and stole second base.

D-BAT Gaviglio

+ 2020 RHP/1B Hunter Reid (Plano Senior HS) works from a low-¾ slot with a long arm stroke and a good sinking fastball at 80-81 mph, with arm side run and depth. He only threw a couple of sliders at 70 mph.

+ 2020 RHP Cade Maclin has an athletic, projectable pitcher’s frame at approximately 5-foot-11, 160-pounds. He works from a ¾ slot and throws a heavy sinking fastball at 80-82 mph, topping out once at 83 mph. His curveball has average shape as he was mostly on the side of the ball, but the pitch comes in at 71-73 mph. Struggle with his fastball command in the first inning with three walks, but Maclin is certainly a player we want to see again.

+ 2020 3B Cole Hill has a strong, athletic frame at 6-foot-2, 185-pounds. Moves well at third base, has a good arm across the infield with carry. Choked up with two-strikes and poked a single up the middle, running a 4.0 to first base from the right side.

+ 2020 Jack Nielsen has a fluid swing with loose hands, he went 2-for-3 with a sharp single to left field and smoked a double to right-centerfield. Approximately 6-foot-1, 170-pounds.

+ 2020 Bryson Klein had a triple to right field in his first AB, and laced a line drive right at the right fielder in his third AB, but what stood out the most was when he scored from second base on a past ball.
