Scout Notes
Jeffery Calderon, a 2018 RHP of Youse’s Oriole sat 82-84, hit 85, good when he commands down, flashed fb command to inner half w/ run. Hides the ball, straight over top arm slot, showed cb command with 11-5 mvmt. 2019 Tyler Locklear of Youse’s Orioles hits from an open stance, gets to strong hitting position, quiet set up and generates rhythm into swing, loads into back side well and keeps tension in hips thru swing. Room for more power if he gets bat on plane earlier…2019 Jamison Covey of Youse’s Orioles was up to 87 w/ run, loose arm action over the top, sharp slider with downward tilt and late movement…Trent Gast-Woodard was a consistent 2.00 on his in between inning pop time. At the plate simplified his swing, more direct and fluid with his hands…Toby Skeans of Kent Island was a bulldog and gamer. competed constantly on the pound and at the plate, squared up a double and single…Ryan Mariani of BCC had a fastball at 77-79 throwing from a high ¾ arm slot. He showed command low in the zone, gets over front side well, slider 10-4 movement as well as a 12-6 curveball…Ben Stoner of Diamond Pros fastball has run, slurve type offspeed, ability to hold runners, ¾ slot, strike thrower when he gets on top of the ball…Harrison Cance of BCC is a third basemen, glove works, able to pick it well, average arm, big body and athletic, hit deep double to right center, inside out swing, very upright and narrow set up, gets on plane early…Tristan Lockett of Go Wags has an over the top arm slot, cb had depth, hit 83 with fb once, sat 78-81, can be successful down in the zone, clean arm action w/ room for more velo as he learns to use legs more…Andrew Kitner of Go Wags has a smooth swing w/ inside out path, generates early bat speed and squared up the ball all three at bats…2019 Cory Blohm of API 16u has a big frame, runs some for his size, drove double on a line over centerfielder’s hit, hit homer in same day, able to backspin the ball in the air to both gaps, upright and open set up, stays open in load. Will be a power threat…Kole Gunter of Bigbies BlackSox smashed deep fly ball, slight up hit bat path w/ above average bat speed…Josh Moylan of API Hits from a crouched, open set up. Shows bat speed at the plate, keeps his hands inside ball. Barreled three balls in second game on Saturday, and drove another two balls well on Sunday. Efficient bat path and rhythm allows him to be on time for different speeds. Should develop into a nice hitting prospect in the 2020 class…Evan Harris - Mizuno Aces an interesting middle infield prospect. Moved well laterally with a confident first step. Got out of balance at times in his cuts, would like to see stay on balls of feet more. Showed a short swing at the plate, with two hits in Sunday’s game. Also pitched with a smooth, clean arm action, strong balance point, high ¾, gets over front side, slight ASR, flashed changeup for strikes, quick to the plate out of the stretch (1.3), downward 11-5 tilt on breaking ball, his mechanical frame will allow him to add even more velo down the road. Matt Rodriguez of Mizuno Aces has a strong athletic frame, quick bat with rhythm and swagger at the plate, will find the barrel with a slight uphill bath, looks to do damage on every swing…
Jacob Anderson of Mizuno Aces found the barrel consistently, has compact/ efficient swing, maintains balance thru out w/ extension after contact recorded 91 exit velo on a single…2020 RHP Sangho Baek was 81-84 on the mound for the Mizuno Aces. Has a compact delivery with an athletic arm action. Falls off the mound at times in finish. Breaking ball is a big 12/6 at 67 – 69. Did not have command of the pitch like he normally does, when it is a go to pitch for him…2019 Matt Rodriguez was up to 82 mph on the mound for Mizuno. He had a shorter quick arm action on the mound…2019 RHP Brayden Ritter is an interesting pitching prospect. Has deception with a funk arm action throwing from a side arm angle. Was 80-83 with slight run and sink. Was inconsistent with command which was attributed to his consistent posture at release…2020 Ethan McCormick was one of my favorite players on the day. Has a lanky, projectable, athletic frame. Hands are free at the plate with extension through his swing and bat speed. Frame has room to add good strength and weight. Played short in the game and was capable of the position, but depending on his development, might move to a corner. Best years are in front of him…2019 Zach Powers was 77-79 on the mound for API 16u with a long free arm action and more in the tank. His breaking ball was 61-64 with a 67-69 changeup…Jack Bayne for Diamond Pros has a uphill swing path at the plate with some bat speed and a strong frame…Starz 2020 RHP Andrew Gray has a longer arm action and projectable frame. He pitched up to 73 on the mound with little effort and looks like he could make a nice jump as he develops…2020 Reed Matkins was an interesting RHP for the Starz. Has a shorter, quick arm action with a projectable frame. Fastball had slight run on the pitch up to 78 mph and he showed a 64-68 breaking ball with 11/5 shape. More in the tank…2020 Kris Jenner was 76-80 on the mound for API 15u. He has a long projectable frame and should continue to climb in his velocity. He threw a big 12/6 breaking ball with gradual break at 61-65 mph…API 15 u OF Logan Leasure has a short, inside out type swing at the plate, showing a knack for getting ball on the ball. Has a middle approach at the plate and covered ground well in the outfield…Chris McCormick showed some bat speed at the plate with extension through contact and ability to go the other way at the plate. He has a strong frame…Sebastian Kraft is another Physical position player for Dig In. He has a slightly uphill path at the plate with extension. Did a nice job driving the ball to right center on a RBI single…Joey Merrill shows plenty of versatility for Dig In. the 2018 has the athleticism to play the outfield and can also play shortstop as well. He plays the game quick. Athletic set up at the plate with average bat speed.
