Scouting Report
Preseason All-State Session I
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 6’2”, 190 pounds. Strong, long, athletic, projectable frame.
Hit: LHH. Balanced, slightly open stance at the plate with rhythm. Smooth back load, short stride and good hand separation. Attacks the ball with a slightly upward swing path and stays short generating fast bat speed through the zone with quick hands. Gets good extension through contact and showed a strong finish. Had a couple outstanding rounds of BP working middle to pull side mostly.
Power: 90 mph exit velocity from the tee. Plus power to the pull side.
Arm: RH. OF - 87 mph. Throws with long arm action from a low to mid three-quarter slot. Ball showed carry.
Defense: Plays through the ball fielding it out in front on the glove hand side. Showed clean footwork with a slight glove tap in exchange.
Run: 4.19 home-to-first time.
Delivery: Starts out of the stretch into a controlled chest high leg kick. Sound initial leg kick. Displayed a mechanically sound motion. Gets good extension out over his landing leg driving his front shoulder towards the target. Lands in premium athletic position.
Arm Action: RH. Throws downhill out of a mid three-quarter arm slot.
FB: T84 mph, 80-84 mph. Subtle arm-side fade
CB: 70-73 mph.Tight, 12/6 shape.
CH: 71-73 mph. Subtle arm-side movement and fade.
MD Future Games Trials 6.27.18
Long, lanky body type and 5-foot-11, 155 pound frame. Hits from a slightly open taller stance at the plate with weight on back side and hands pre-loaded. Sinks into lower half during swing and stays behind the ball well. Nice lower half involvement and gets good extension through contact. Line drive type hitter with some power to the gaps. Uphill swing path with an exit velo of 75 mph. Plays through the ball in the outfield and showed a clean exchange. Longer arm action throwing from a lower three-quarters arm slot at 80 mph. Ran a 5.01 home-to-first time. Controlled side-step wind-up into a tall balance point with hands set high at head level. Down to out lower half and quick arm speed. Throws downhill with long, loose, whippy arm actions from a lower three-quarters slot. Lands square and in-line with an athletic finish. Fastball was 78-80 mph and showed some sink. Tighter 11/5 breaking ball with shorter action at 68-70 mph and a change-up that showed nice fade at 68-71 mph.
