The 2015 Major League Draft takes place June 8-10. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.
With a small population, it’s understandable that Maryland doesn’t churn out draft prospects, but it has had a decent run of picks in the top 10 rounds in recent years. There was chance for the state to have a high pick again this year, but RHP Cody Morris (Reservoir HS, MD) will undergo Tommy John surgery in early June and wind up at South Carolina in the fall. Beyond Morris, the class is mostly made up of arms that will also benefit from going to college.
Top Prospects
1. Cody Morris, RHP, Reservoir HS, MD
Morris has a big, strong frame at 6-foot-5, 205 pounds. His spring was inconsistent, understandable now that it’s known he needs surgery on his elbow, but he showed power stuff last summer, sitting in the low 90s with occasional life.
