MWFG; Team Indiana Pitcher's Rotation
July 29, 2013
Indiana will feature a ton of strength on the mound in this year’s Midwest Futures Games Powered by Under Armor. Indiana will feature four arms that have been up to 90 or better. Nolan Watson (Lawrence North), Noah Burkholder (Crown Point), Evan Giles (Franklin) and Reid Schaller (Lebanon 2016).
Three more arms jump in as high as 89 in Grant Sloan (Zionsville), Brady Cherry (Lapel), and Grant Inman (FW Carroll). Indiana also features two front end lefties in Jordan Poore (Muncie Central) and Zach Spears (Mt. Vernon). Both typically pitch a lot in the 84-85 range and throw a lot of strikes. Other arms to look out for from team Indiana, Tyler Ward (Heritage Hills) is 85-86 with a lot of sink and a live arm. He is very tough to hit off of.
Rounding out the staff will be 6-foot-5 righty Matt Kent (Canterbury) and Chris Ayers (Westfield). Kent has had a down summer velocity wise but last winter he was one of the more impressive 2015 arms I saw, Kent has been as high as 87 last fall. Ayers, known more for his offensive abilities, will also throw this weekend. Ayers has plenty of arm strength topping out at 86.
