MOKAN Summer Trials: Outfield Analysis

On July 5, Prep Baseball Report-Missouri/Kansas held the MOKAN Summer Trials at LaRoche Field in Fort Scott, Kansas.  Over 60 players on the 2021-2018 classes attended. 

We will break down the event position-by-position, taking a look at the outfielders today.  Player profiles have been updated with video, running times, throwing velocities and profile picture.  Players are listed in alphabetical order.

Player's profiles have been updated with profile pictures, videos and stats from the event. Coaches will have new profiles to add their dashboard on ScoutPlus and players will be able to update information on their profile with ProspectPlus.

Outfielders

Zach Bass OF / Shawnee Mission East, KS / 2019

Bass is a 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 6.84 60 and has an exit velocity of 79 mph. At the plate, balanced stance, early in line stride, loose hands, body under control, loose hands, middle to pull side contact during batting practice.  In the outfield, 84 mph positional velos, over the top arm slot, loose arm action, clean glove to hand trasnfer, plays through the catch, fluid footwork.

Ty Blecha LHP / Shawnee Mission Northwest, KS / 2021

Blecha is a lean and projectable 6-foot-2 148-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.50 60 and has an exit velocity of 77 mph. At the plate, athletic set up, smooth reverse to touch to load, minimal hand movement, slightly closed, middle of the field approach.  In the outfield, 80 mph positional velo, loose high three quarters arm slot, athletic action, momentum through the catch, fluid transfer on time with footwork.

Gunnar Joe Brown OF / Fort Scott , KS / 2018

Brown is a 5-foot-11 155-pound switch-hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2018 class. He ran a 6.69 60 and has a left-handed exit velocity of 75 and right-handed exit velocity of 78 mph. At the plate, open stance, short in line stride, minimal hand load, loose swing, level path, controlled body, repeats swing from both sides.  In the outfield, 84 mph positional velo, attacks ball with quick feet, over the top release, clean transfer with momentum though the catch, throws have back spin.

Darius Bryan OF / Rock Bridge , MO / 2019

Bryan is an athletic 5-foot-10 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.34 60 and has an 82 mph exit velo. At the plate, balanced stance, slightly closed stride, level path through the zone, pull side contact, occasional pull side power.  In the outfield, 76 mph positional velo, crow hop, high three quarters release, plays through the catch, fluid transfer and release. 

Will Bushnell RHP / Rock Bridge , MO / 2019

Bushnell is a 6-foot-4 180-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.19 60 and has an 83 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, wide base, minimal load, no wasted movement, hands control the bat, flashed pull side power, mostly middle to pull side contact during batting practice.  In the outfield, 83 mph positional velo, high three quarters arm slot, controlled crow hop creating momentum though the catch, fluid footwork with clean transfer.

Christian Casanova C / Logan-Rogersville, MO / 2018

Cassanova is a 5-foot-8 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.30 60 and has an 83 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance smooth in line stride, no wasted movement, loose hands, showed power to pull side, hard consistent contact during batting practice, repeats swing with feel for barrel, compact swing.  In the outfield, 82 mph positional velo, athletic action, quick to the ball, quick catch and throw, momentum through the catch, over the top release, throws have back spin.

Tate Gillen OF / Blue Valley, KS / 2021

Gillen is a 5-foot-11 145-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.25 60 and has a 75 mph exit velo. At the plate, advanced swing mechanics, balanced stance, smooth load, short in line stride, level bat path, solid and hard contact during batting practice, gap to gap approach, showed range in swing.  In the outfield, 77 mph positional velocity, quick catch and throw, fluid footwork to and through the ball, loose high three quarters arm action, athletic actions.

John Michael Gyllenborg OF / Rockhurst, MO / 2021

Gyllenborg is a lean and long 6-foot-2 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He ran a 7.50 60 and has an exit velocity of 79 mph. At the plate, balanced stance, hands walk away from stride, stays in line, loose hands, consistent hard contact to middle of the cage during batting practice, stays on ball after contact.  In the outfield, 76 mph positional velo, over the top release, crow hop, momentum through the catch, hands and feet work together, smooth actions. 

Levi Legate SS / Blue Springs South, MO / 2019

Legate is a 5-foot-11 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 6.94 60 and has an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, smooth load in lower half and hands, quick bat speed, loose hands, gap-to-gap approach, consistent hard contact middle of the field, compact.  In the outfield, 77 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, works behind the ball and through the catch, quick catch and throw, clean exchange with fluid footwork.

Cooper Marsh OF / Mill Valley, KS / 2021

Marsh is a 5-foot-10 170-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.15 60 and has an 86 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, some load in hands, slightly closed stride, aggressive swing, quick bat speed, occasional power, middle to pull side line drives during batting practice.  In the outfield, 72 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, fluid actions, controlled crow hop, momentum though the catch, works behind the ball.

Brennan Perkins OF / Rockhurst , MO / 2020

Perkins is a 5-foot-10 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.21 60 and has a 75 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced stance, controlled load, hands walk away from stride, in line, hands manage the bat, sprayed line drives throughout the hitting round, feel for barrel, controlled swing.  In the outfield, 75 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, crow hop, works behind the ball, clean transfer, fluid footwork.

Jace Peters 2B / Blue Valley High, KS / 2021

Peters is a 5-foot-11 145-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.46 60 and has an exit velocity of 74 mph. At the plate, hands work inside the ball, smooth and simple load, short to contact, slightly closed stride, mostly pull side line drives during batting practice.  In the outfield, 74 mph positional velo, quick catch and throw, over the top release, throws with momentum, works through the ball, projectable athlete.

Sol Rainey RHP / Cassville, MO / 2019

Rainiey is a lean and projectable 6-foot-4 185-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class. He ran a 7.62 60 and has an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts loaded on back side, short in line stride, controlled body with hands managing the barrel, middle to pull side contact, flashed power, level bat path.  In the outfield, 78 mph positional velo, loose high three quarters , arm works, take route behind ball, plays through catch, fluid footwork, throws have back spin. 

 

 

Brady Strickert LHP / Blue Springs South, MO / 2019

Strickert is a 5-foot-11 190-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.47 60 and has an 86 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, flashes pull power, some lift to swing, free and quick hands, fast bat speed, smooth load, short and controlled stride, middle to pull side line drives during batting practice.  In the outfield, high three quarters release, momentum through the catch, athletic feet with quick catch and throw, 85 mph positional velo.

Vincent Tinoco OF / Winnetonka , MO / 2018

Tinoco is a 5-foot-10 165-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 6.57 60 and has a 70 mph exit velocity. At the plate, thin and open stance, in line stride, aggressive bat speed, high finish in hand, minimal load, no wasted movement, middle to opposite field line drives.  In the outfield, 75 mph positional velo, over the top release, clean transfer, quick feet to the ball, plays through the catch.

Jake Yarnall OF / Joplin , MO / 2018

Yarnall is a 5-foot-9 140-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.00 60 and has a 72 mph exit velo. At the plate, In the outfield, over the top release, quick to the ball with momentum through the catch, feet and hands on time together, clean catch and throw, 74 mph positional velo.
