MOKAN Summer Trials: 2019 and 2019 Pitchers Analysis

On July 5, Prep Baseball Report-Missouri/Kansas held the MOKAN Summer Trials at LaRoche Field in Fort Scott, Kansas.  Over 60 players on the 2021-2018 classes attended. 

We broken down the event position-by-position, taking a look at the 2019 and 2018 pitchers today.  Player profiles have been updated with video, running times, throwing velocities and profile picture.  Players are listed in alphabetical order.

Player's profiles have been updated with profile pictures, videos and stats from the event. Coaches will have new profiles to add their dashboard on ScoutPlus and players will be able to update information on their profile with ProspectPlus.

2018 and 2019 Pitchers

Logan Alexander 2B / Olathe Northwest , KS / 2019

Alexander is a 5-foot-10 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2019 class. Alexander has an over the top release, controlled tempo during wind up, rocks into back leg during stretch, strides slightly open, loose arm action, repeats, fastball at 75-77 mph, breaking ball has gradual 12-to-5 action, 67-79 mph, throws splitter at 65-67 mph, some sink.

Max Breite 1B / New Covenant Academy, MO / 2019

Breite is a long limbed 6-foot-1 157-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Breite has an over the top release point, fastball at topping at 77 mph, working 73-76 mph, choppy tempo adding deception, in line stride, finished in athletic position, breaking ball has has 1-to-7 shape, 62-64 mph, knuckleball has slight sink, 57-58 mph.

Will Bushnell RHP / Rock Bridge , MO / 2019

Bushnell is a 6-foot-4 180-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Bushnell has a high three quarters release, creates run on fastball, slight rotation at balance point, aggressive down the mound, projectable and athletic, throws with some effort, works across body, late running action on fastball, 77-79 mph, breaking ball has 11-to-5 action, 70-73 mph, some with sharp action, change up at 63-66 mph,

Christian Casanova C / Logan-Rogersville, MO / 2018

Casanova is a 5-foot-8 150-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Casanova has a high three quarters arm slot, open stride, smooth tempo in delivery, loose arm action, fastball at mostly 77-80 mph, late two-seam action, breaking ball has 10-to-4 shape, slurve-type action, 65-66 mph, gradual, change up at 71-73 mph, near fastball arm speed, some with arm side run.

Chandler Defebaugh RHP / Fort Scott , KS / 2018

Defenbaugh is a 6-foot-1 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. Defebaugh has two-seam action on fastball at 75-78 mph, throws for a strike, breaking ball  has gradual 11-to-5 shape, 66-69 mph, change up at 72-74 mph, slight sink late, near fastball arm speed, controlled delivery, deliberate tempo, high three quarters release, works in line down the mound, throws with regular effort.

Dalton Engle RHP / Riley County, KS / 2018

Engle is a 6-foot-2 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. Engle is athletic and strong, short over the top arm action, aggressive tempo, works in line down the mound, loose arm action with more in the tank, fastball jumps out of hand, heavy, 80-82 mph, shows command to both sides of plate, curveball is shape at times, 12-to-6 action, controllable, change up at 62-65 mph, near fastball arm speed.

Braden Geer RHP / Rose Hill , KS / 2019

Geer is a 6-foot-4 176-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2019 class. Geer is a strike thrower with three pitches, long limb with projectable frame, in line down the mound, repeats delivery, body under control, throws with some effort at end of delivery, loose arm action, fastball has late running action, 74-76 mp, commands both sides of plate, breaking ball has 11-to-5 acton, sharp late action, throws for strike, change up at mostly at 7-74 mph, slight sinking action.

Joey Mace RHP / Warsaw , MO / 2019

Mace is a 6-foot-1 161-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Mace showed command of fastball, over the top arm slot, long and lean frame, loose arm acton, throws with some effort, fastball at mostly 75-77 mph, some with late run, change up at 62-64 mph, occasional late fading action, knuckleball has gradual sink, 55-58 mph.

Mason Majors C / Staley, MO / 2018

Majors is a 5-foot-11 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Majors showed high potential with his bullpen, strong build with aggressive and athletic delivery, over the top release, fastball at 82-84 mph, heavy with sink and running action, curveball at 67-68 mph, tight spin, some with late action, looks to be good pitch as he continues to throw, change up has late fading action, 75-76 mph, fastball arm speed.

Sol Rainey RHP / Cassville, MO / 2019

Rainey is a 6-foot-4 185-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Rainey has an over the top release, works in line down the mound, smooth and repeatable delivery, athletic finish, hands stay high during delivery, fastball at 77-78 mph, curveball at 62-66 mph, 12-to-6 action, sharp downward break, throws for strike, change up at 69-72 mph, occasional arm side release, throws with near fastball arm speed, long and lean frame.

Wade Reynolds 3B / Goddard Eisenhower, KS / 2019

Reynolds is a 6-foot-2 180-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2019 class. Reynolds has a fluid delivery, over the top release, slight coil at top of release point, hides ball well, athletic frame with loose arm action, fastball at 82-84 mph, downhill tilt, late run, breaking ball has 65-66 mph, has 11-to-5 action, some with sharp break, throws slider at 73-75 mph, bites hard with 10-to-4 action, throws change up at 71-74 mph, fastball arm speed, sinking action, showed command of four pitches.

Brady Strickert LHP / Blue Springs South, MO / 2019

Strickert is a 5-foot-11 190-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Strickert athletic delivery, in line stride, throws with some effort, slight pause at top of balance point, accelerated down the mound, high three quarters arm slot, fastball at 77-81 mph, curveball has 1-to-7 shape, sweeping action, throws change up down in the zone, mostly 62-64 mph, sinking action.

Jake Wheeler SS / Stockton, MO / 2018

Wheeler is a 5-foot-11 150-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Wheeler throws strikes with three pitches, athletic delivery, in line down the mound, loose high three quarters arm slot, repeatable and simple, fastball at mostly 77-80 mph, some with late running action, breaking ball has slurve-type spin, mostly 10-to-4 sweeping action, late break, change up at 66-69 mph, near fastball arm speed, occasional arm side run. 

Carson Zenger 3B / Rock Creek, KS / 2018

Zenger is a 6-foot-2 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. Zenger is strong and athletic, controlled delivery, loose over the top arm speed, throws three pitches for strikes, in line stride, fastball at 82-83 mph, late 11-to-5 action on breaking ball, consistently 73 mph, change up has arm side release, throws with fastball arm speed, 69-71 mph, impressive bullpen.
