Risers in the 2018 Rankings
Yesterday PBR Maryland released the updated 2018 rankings. We expanded to the top 185 in the state with 35 new additions. There was plenty of movement across the rankings and today we take a look at the risers in the rankings.
Jacob Zebron RHP Colonel Richardson (North Carolina State)
We had been on the Zebron bandwagon for a while since we first saw him over a year ago at the Big 26 Clash. A long and free arm action told you there was more in the tank and he could be a pretty special arm. That came to fruition this spring, albeit in a loss against eventual 1A state champion St. Michael's in May. Zebron sat 87-91 in the game touching 92. This summer he became a hot commodity that led to his eventual commitment to North Carolina State. Though he only has moved up 14 spots, it was an important move as he entered our top 5.
Dallas Repine RHP James M Bennett
Staying on the Eastern Shore, this 6-foot-7 right-hander showed off his ability last week at the Unsigned Senior Games. A tough aspect to any pitcher with height and length is the athleticism and body control to show the ability to repeat a delivery. Repine shows an athletic arm with an ability to repeat. There is still rawness left, but this is another high ceiling arm that has jumped from No. 48 previously to now the top 20.
Jeremy Lapp-Barger RHP Century (West Virginia)
Lapp-Barger began the move to the mound last fall and has continuted to increase his stock since. The transition took some time as he became more comfortable, but you saw the naturalness in the switch that you don't always get when you see a position player make the move the mound. He kept a fluid, natural delivery that synced well with his loose arm action. Lapp-Barger climbed up to 87 this spring and has been even better this summer, culminating with a commitment to West Virginia. Lapp-Barger moved up 10 spots to No. 21.
Aaron Holiday RHP Caravel Academy (DE) (Old Dominion)
Another position player to make a switch of focus to the mound, Holiday has formed himself into an intriguing prospect. Holiday still has a shorter arm action on the bump since making the transition from behind the plate, and gets into his hips and backside while working downhill and getting nice lower half involvement, pitching around 87 mph. Holiday is a recent commit to Old Dominion and has moved up almost 40 spots into the top 25.
Will Glock RHP Loyola Blakefield (Maryland)
Glock was another projectable righty with a quick, athletic arm action. Many were intrigued with his ability and what that could entail down the road. This summer Glock saw his velocity jump from a 82-85 arm to the 84-88 range and still some room for more. Glock finally made his commitment to Maryland just yesterday.
