FRANKFORT, IL - A 12 run outburst in the Griffins’ bottom of the fourth was the story of the ballgame as Lincoln-Way East took just five innings to put away TF South in Thursday’s Regional Semifinal, 13-3.
The rally came after TF South broke a 0-0 tie in the top half of the fourth to grab an early lead 3-0. Sophomore Malik Staples and junior Tyler Labedz drove in the first two runs of the game on RBI singles.
Lincoln-Way East quickly wiped away the deficit as their 12-run inning sent 17 men to the plate, racking up eight hits and five free passes. Mike Wallace belted a three-run triple to right field to get the inning started and quickly tie the game at 3-3. Wallace had two hits in the inning.
Senior Joe Prestamer finished his five-inning outing with three strikeouts, scattering six hits and three earned runs to pick up the win.
