2B T.J. Lashock Commits to Lackawanna College

                                         Lashock

For many high school players the ultimate dream is to play Division I college baseball. For T.J. Lashock, a 5-foot-6, 165-pound 2B from Berwick HS, his path to that dream will begin with his commitment to Lackawanna College in Scranton, PA. "I made my decision to attend Lackawanna College because my goal is to play for a Division I NCAA program. I didn't get that many DI looks and I feel that Lackawanna can help me reach my goal of playing Division I baseball." Lashock continued by saying, "Lackawanna has a great reputation for sending players to four year programs. Their program also gives me a chance to play for a national championship."

Lackawanna College is coming off of a 47-12 record in 2012. The Falcons went 17-0 in conference play and advanced to the NJCAA Division II World Series. Lashock, who was also looking at Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, Misericordia, Cecil, Chesapeake and Bridgewater, decided on Lackawanna after a recent visit to the campus to meet with the coaching staff. "Coach Pensak and his coaching staff invited me to practice with the team in September and I performed pretty well. The coaching staff then came to see my travel team play a showcase tournament at Bucknell University and Susquehanna College. I was invited to make a visit to Lackawanna the following week to meet with the coaching staff. They made me feel at home. They told me that their goal was to help me become the best player that I could be and following the visit I had a pretty good idea where I wanted to attend", said Lashock.

Lashock will now get to work preparing for his final high school season and working on a new position. According to Lashock, "The coaching staff wants me to play second base due to my height. I normally play third base or outfield, but I plan to work hard over the next year on my footwork and middle infield skills. I feel I can make the transition fairly well and become a solid second baseman at the college level."

Lashock's Berwick HS team is coming off a 17-6 campaign in 2012. Looking to the 2013 season, Lashock said, "My goals for my senior season are to make the All-State Team and to win the Wyoming Valley Conference batting title. As a team, we would like to win the district title and make a run in the state playoffs. We lost to North Pocono in the district final game last year and that left a bad taste in our mouths. We are looking to avenge that loss this season."
