Kenosha Preseason I.D.: All Player Analysis

On Feb. 14, the PBR Wisconsin team hosted its first event of 2021, the Kenosha Preseason I.D., at Puma Baseball Academy within the Fielder’s Choice Training Facility in Kenosha, Wis. This was an open event for all high school classes (2021-24), and gave our staff an ample look at the area's top players.

Today, we’re concluding the Kenosha I.D.’s post-event coverage by publishing the scouting reports on each of the players in attendance.

TOP OVERALL PROSPECTS

Ethan Clark OF / Lakes Community, IL / 2022

Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 6-2, 165-pounds. High-waist, wiry frame; high projectability.
Defense: Fluid feet, methodical through fielding position, step behind transfer, corner outfield profile.
Arm: RH. OF - 89 mph. Short, loose throws from an over the top slot; throws carry to home.
Hit: RHH. Balanced base, slightly open, hands set high, high back elbow; calm approach. Loose fast hands, short to the ball and able to get extension, repeated hard-hit contact, showed barrel awareness in BP. Generates above-average bat speed (70.8 mph on average) projectable offensive profile.
Power: Averaged the highest average exit speed of the event, measured at 88.87 mph; max exit speed 93.84.
Run: 4.18 runner from home to first.

Luke Wenzel OF / Brookfield Central, WI / 2022

Positional Profile: OF
Body: 6-2, 160-pounds. Lean, upside frame.
Defense: Plays through the baseball keeping feet active toward target, long to release, feet need to gather before release.
Arm: RH. OF - 83 mph. Long loose arm action, high 3/4 slot, average arm strength.
Hit: LHH. Tall setup, balanced stance, short stride as hands load. Hits off backside working short to the baseball and slight uphill path, creates loose whippy bat speed and gets extension through contact. 23.6 mph peak hand speed.
Power: Potential for added power as frame fills out; max exit speed during BP of 90.42 mph.
Run: 4.51 runner from home to first.

Marco Falletti INF / Wilmot, WI / 2023

Positional Profile: INF
Body: 5-10, 180-pounds. Strong, athletic build; sturdy lower half.
Defense: Sits on the baseball, fielding right of center, deliberate, glove pat exchange, careful on approach, athletic feet through transfer toward target.
Arm: RH. INF - 89 mph. Short, loose arm action, high 3/4 slot; arm strength. Easy carry across with premium arm strength, long to release.
Hit: RHH. Tall/balanced setup, leg kick trigger, rhythm in pre-pitch; relaxed and confident approach. Generates premium, advanced bat speed (76.0 mph on average) using lower half well. Aggressive swings, will intently attack the baseball, yet maintains balance. Hard contact jumps off the bat.
Power: Looking to lift through impact; averaged the highest exit speed among 2023s in attendance (87.82 mph); max exit speed of 97.01 during BP.
Run: 4.68 runner from home to first.

Joseph Lagina C / Freedom Project Academy, WI / 2022

Positional Profile: C
Body: 5-11, 200-pounds. Compact body type, strong lower half.
Defense: 2.09-2.18 pop times. Replaces feet out of the crouch, directional with little ground gained. Soft receiver, strong hands, and above average blocker.
Arm: RH. C - 75 mph. Short over the top arm, showed slight carry.
Hit: RHH. Wide stance, crouched setup, minimal stride, heel lift initiates subtle hand load. Well above average bat strength, short to the baseball, gap to gap approach, made some of his best contact to the big part of the field.
Power: Power bat that can go pole to pole; averaged an exit speed of 88.18 mph, among the best in attendance. Max exit speed recorded at 97.99 mph in BP.
Run: 4.62 runner from home to first.

Jake Catalano RHP / Brookfield East, WI / 2023

Positional Profile: RHP; Strong PBR event debut as a follow pitcher in this 2023 class.
Body: 6-1, 175-pounds. Lean strength in projectable build.
Delivery: Upright start from the left of the rubber; side steps into high knee lift, tall balance point, shoulders level, high front side. Strides to a square landing, toe-closed, athletic finish.
Arm Action: RH. Short draw, compact arm circle to an over-the-top slot. Loose, quick arm out front.
FB: T84, 82-83 mph. Fastball features some carry through the zone with arm-side run; steep angle.
CB: 69-72 mph. Raw feel but demonstrates above-average spin (2,306 rpm on average); 12/6 shape that flashed downer bite.
CH: 77-79 mph. Maintains arm speed effectively; arm-side run/fade.

Marshall Loch RHP / 3B / Union Grove, WI / 2024

Positional Profile: RHP/3B; A freshman to follow in the state.
Body: 6-1, 150-pounds. High waist, lean/lanky build; athletic.
Defense: Corner infield profile; works through the ball efficiently. Demonstrated body control, above-average overall actions, for his age.
Arm: RH. INF - 83 mph. Long draw, loose arm action, high 3/4 slot; throws carry across.
Hit: RHH. Athletic/balanced setup. Weight-shift load back, reverse toe-tap trigger to timing. Repeats a fluid, short, level swing well, while generating bat speed measured at 71.8 mph on average. Contact was low-lying line-drives to the middle of the field.
Power: Flashed the ability to produce advanced bat strength for his age; max exit speed measured at 94.24 mph in BP.
Run: 4.73 runner from home to first.

Delivery: Side step into high knee, hip turn coil at balance point. Fluid pace down mound to square landing, shoulders stay level, works on line, finishes athletically.
Arm Action: RH. Compact arm circle; loose, quick arm action to an over-the-top slot.
FB: T82, 79-81 mph. Four-seam type that projects; above-average spin and carry through the zone.
CB: 68-69 mph. An early feel to spin a breaking ball; above-average action off a 12/6 plane.
CH: 71-73 mph. Somewhat decelerates through release; circle grip with run/fade that he spotted under the zone.

Joey Appino C / 3B / Boylan Catholic, IL / 2022

Positional Profile: C/3B
Body: 6-1, 170-pounds. Lanky, athletic frame that can stand to add strength as physical maturity continues.
Defense: 2.18-2.32 pop times. Worked out on the infield and behind the plate. Athletic stance in the crouch, flexible and balanced lower half, quiet hands, feet work in line to the bag. Fields low to the ground on the dirt, athletic feet that range well up the middle, steady two-hand gather over center of body, some length to release.
Arm: RH. C - 77 mph. INF - 84 mph. Loose arm action that travels on a long circular path at times, high 3/4 slot; accurate throws to the bag.
Hit: RHH. Slightly open narrow stance, steady pre-pitch hand rhythm, smooth load into a comfortable hitting position, short stride with athletic balance through contact. Loose hands, long and level bat path, consistent line drive approach, smooth rhythm throughout.
Power: Max exit speed measured at 90.80 mph in BP.
Run: 4.76 runner from home to first.

Vincent Sacchetti SS / 2B / Antioch, IL / 2023

Positional Profile: SS/2B
Body: 5-11, 140-pounds. Wiry build.
Defense: Presents hands early and works down to up, soft hands funnel to transfer, above average back hand and body control. Overall above average actions.
Arm: RH. INF - 81 mph. Short loose arm action, quick release, arm showed ability to play athletically on the move.
Hit: RHH. Open stance, reverse toe tap trigger, squares up stride, solid balance through contact. Short path, works on top of the baseball, lunge to hit, front-side hitter, line-drive approach, in rhythm with above average hands.
Power: Max exit speed measured at 88.65 mph in BP.
Run: 4.54 runner from home to first.

Cameron Prickett 1B / Tremper, WI / 2023

Positional Profile: 1B
Body: 6-1, 185-pounds. Lean strength in projectable build; broad shoulders.
Defense: Fundamental, fluid footwork around bag; larger target around the bag, above average hands with ability to dig the baseball.
Arm: RH. INF - 78 mph. Loose throws from a high 3/4 slot.
Hit: RHH. Athletic/balanced setup, slightly open, with hands set high, pre-pitch rhythm, simple load, short heel lift stride to even. Some length to the zone, impacts the ball out front, natural lift through contact. Fluid, repeatable swing, finishes in balance.
Power: Bat strength present; recorded the day's highest max (339 feet) and average (238) batted distances among 2023s. Average exit speed during BP was 83.62 mph with a 90.94 max.
Run: 4.69 runner from home to first.

Bowen Smith SS / RHP / Hononegah, IL / 2022

Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5-10, 150-pounds. Lean frame.
Defense: Plays light on his feet, active feet keep moving through the baseball.
Arm: RH. INF - 81 mph. Short over the top slot, above average arm strength.
Hit: RHH. Slightly open stance, weight loaded back and crouched, small stride to close down front side. Above average bat speed, hits in rhythm, mid to opposite field approach.
Power: Recorded a max exit speed of 91.29 mph in BP; 83.30 average.
Run: 4.43 runner from home to first.

Delivery: Repeatable delivery, works online and with regular effort.
Arm Action: RH. Short arm action, out of over-the-top window.
FB: T82, 81-82 mph. Showed control of the zone, played mostly straight.
CB: 70-73 mph. Landed for strikes, above average feel.
CH: 74-76 mph. Consistently down, plays below the hitting zone with sink action.

Beau Bloxdorf, Union Grove (WI), 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/SS
Body: 5-8, 135-pounds. Lanky, high-waisted frame with some upside levers.
Defense: Lower half shuffles around the baseball, hands work under center of body, corner infield profile.
Arm: RH. INF - 80 mph. Long arm action, over-the-top slot. Above-average arm strength for age, throws flashed carry to the bag.
Hit: RHH. Balanced somewhat crouched setup, steady hand rhythm into load, long stride to closed. Long and uphill bat path.
Power: Max exit speed measured at 80.78 mph during BP.
Run: 4.87 runner from home to first.

Delivery: Tall and fall delivery, works with slight effort, lands square.
Arm Action: RH. Loose arm action, slight reach/pause on back side, gets to over the top slot.
FB: T80, 76-79 mph. Played with cut action, above average feel for the zone.
CB: 67-68 mph. Flashed 12/6 shape, with depth at times.
CH: 71-71 mph. Near fastball arm speed, showed slight fade action and feel for zone.

Caden Burbey, Horlick (WI), 2023
Positional Profile: 3B/OF
Body: 5-10, 161-pounds. Athletic build.
Defense: Plays with some pre-pitch bounce, attacks the baseball in an occasional rhythm, secure hands, clean exchange to release.
Arm: RH. OF - 79 mph. Short arm circle, high 3/4 slot.
Hit: RHH. Balanced setup, hands start high over back shoulder, minimal load, quick toe-tap trigger. Short and simple stroke, all fields approach.
Power: Recorded a max exit speed of 84.90 mph during BP.
Run: 4.67 runner from home to first.

Delivery: Side step to level knee lift, tall/fall on line to home, rides to slightly closed landing, toe pointed to target, finishes square to home.
Arm Action: RH. Long draw, long arm circle to a lower release height, high ¾ slot.
FB: T76, 74-76 mph. Four-seam type; straight.
CB: 62-64 mph. Gradual action with above-average feel for spin; depth, 11/5 shape.

Ryan Buschmann, DeForest (WI), 2022
Positional Profile: 2B
Body: 6-1, 185-pounds. Proportionally strong frame with some physicality, particularly in the lower half.
Defense: Fields around the baseball with some rhythm, hands work out front, clean funnels into hip pocket, clean hand transfer with a glove pack to release.
Arm: RH. INF - 78 mph. Short arm action, 3/4 slot.
Hit: LHH. Comfortable and relaxed presence in the box, slightly open stance, balanced lower half. Quiet pre-pitch hand rhythm, smooth and efficient load, leg kick trigger to front footstrike. Loose wrists, noticeable Blast Motion metrics; hand speed average of 24.12 mph with an average bat speed of 73.55 mph. Smooth and simple left-handed stroke, short level bat path m, confident demeanor throughout.
Power: Recorded a max exit speed of 89.84 mph during BP. Recorded a max fly ball distance of 322 feet, per TrackMan.
Run: 4.35 runner from home to first.

Cade Cassity, Grayslake North (IL), 2023
Positional Profile: 2B/SS
Body: 6-0, 145-pounds. Thin, wiry build.
Defense: Tall at two-hand gather; wide base with fundamental footwork helps create proper fielding position while on the move. Above-average overall actions while moving to either side.
Arm: RH. INF - 72 mph. Short throws from a high 3/4 slot.
Hit: RHH. Wide base, slightly open, hands set low with a high back elbow. Weight shifts back in load, hands drop, leg lift strides back down to even. Arm bars in load, lunge to zone; bat path is long, level through contact, works the middle of the field.
Power: Recorded a max exit speed of 80.47 mph during BP.
Run: 4.72 runner from home to first.

Dylan Feldkamp, Antioch (IL), 2024
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 5-11, 155-pounds. Slight frame, long levers.
Delivery: Stretch-only; coiled balance point, high knee lift, drops and drives down mound with shoulders closed, fluid pace to square landing, efficient; athletic finish.
Arm Action: RH. Long draw down, compact to high 3/4 slot; loose arm.
FB: T72, 70-71 mph. Mostly straight; flashed some natural arm-side action.
CB: 59-59 mph. Early action, 12/6 shape; gradual action with depth.
CH: 64-66 mph. Arm-side fade/run.

Noah Hansen, Bradford (WI), 2022
Positional Profile: 2B/C
Body: 5-6, 145-pounds. Athletic build.
Defense: Fields low to the ground, showed a quick first step up the middle, hands play out front, steady exchange to release.
Arm: RH. INF - 72 mph. Short arm action, high 3/4 slot.
Hit: RHH. Balanced setup, wide base, simple hand load, steady toe-tap timing trigger. Long and level bat path, worked back up the middle.
Power: Recorded a max exit speed of 83.12 mph during BP.
Run: 4.76 runner from home to first.

Ethan Horon, Union Grove (WI), 2022
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP
Body: 5-11, 230-pounds.
Defense: Sits back on the baseball, fields low to the ground, hands work out front.
Arm: RH. INF - 74 mph. Short arm action with some poke in the back, high 3/4 slot.
Hit: LHH. Balanced setup, simple hand load, short stride. Strong hands, loose uphill bat path, worked middle-away with confidence.
Power: Recorded a max exit speed of 89.75 mph during BP.

Hayden Jamison, Union Grove (WI), 2024
Positional Profile: C/1B
Body: 5-9, 170-pounds. Strength in build; early physicality present for age.
Defense: 2.28-2.43 pop times. Quiet receiver, flexible hips; fundamental catch-and-throw actions. Works directly, efficiently to target.
Arm: RH. C - 69 mph. Long arm action from an over-the-top slot; arm projects as he matures and develops.
Hit: RHH. Wide base, slightly closed, hands set high, weight shifts back, hands load back, reverse toe-tap stride back to a slightly closed position. Bat path is level/flat, line-drive contact. Generates above-average bat speed for his age (68.5 mph on average).
Power: Recorded a max exit speed of 88.16 mph during BP. Strength on impact for age; max estimated batted distance measured at 331 feet.

Austin Loberger, Bradford (WI), 2022
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-0, 165-pounds. Lanky, high-waisted frame.
Delivery: Starts balanced in the middle of the rubber, tall/fall type delivery, high leg kick to balance point, short stride downhill to front footstrike, works direct to target.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action, slightly elevated 3/4 release point.
FB: T82, 77-81 mph. Two-seam type that showed arm-side run and sink; strikes. Averaged 17.9 inches of horizontal movement.
CB: 64-68 mph. 11/5 shape with early downer action.
CH: 66-69 mph. Thrown from a lower release height than fastball, plays with sink and occasionally landed for strikes.

Joseph Mendoza, Tremper (WI), 2023
Positional Profile: C
Body: 5-7, 145-pounds. Athletic, proportional frame.
Defense: 2.25-2.44 pop times. Balanced stance, lower half works in line with the bag, clean transfer to release.
Arm: RH. C - 71 mph. Short arm action, finishes from a high 3/4 slot.
Hit: RHH. Open stance with some bend in the lower half, hands load back slightly, short stride with balance through contact at times. Long and uphill bat path,
Power: Recorded a max exit speed of 80.95 mph during BP.

Foster Milanowski, River Valley (WI), 2022

Body: 5-8, 150-pounds. Smaller frame, athletic build.
Defense: Average hands work underneath his setup, plays through when on the move.
Arm: RH. INF - 77 mph. Short arm action, high 3/4 slot, winds up at times.
Hit: RHH. Balanced setup, smooth loading action and short stride. Maintains good balance through contact. Hits in rhythm at times with level bat path, showed ability to stay on plane.
Power: Recorded a max exit speed of 85.66 mph during BP.

Wyatt Modory, Tremper (WI), 2022
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 6-3, 160-pounds. Lanky, long-levered frame.
Defense: Feet work around the baseball, glove pack to release.
Arm: RH. OF - 81 mph. Long arm circle, over-the-top slot.
Hit: RHH. Closed stance, minimal hand load, toe-tap trigger to front footstrike. Hands stay short to the baseball, uphill path at times.
Power: Recorded a max exit speed of 85.04 mph during BP.
Run: 4.66 runner from home to first.

Quade Moll, Antioch (IL), 2023
Positional Profile: 3B/OF
Body: 5-9, 160-pounds. Athletic, proportional frame.
Defense: Steady feet that work around the baseball up the middle, hands play under center of body, quick and clean exchange to release. Showed a smooth double play turn, second base profile.
Arm: RH. INF - 81 mph. Long arm action, high 3/4 slot.
Hit: RHH. Closed stance, active pre-pitch hand rhythm, quick toe-tap trigger, strides to closed. Long and uphill bat path, pull-side approach.
Power: Recorded a max exit speed of 88.95 mph during BP.
Run: 4.44 runner from home to first.

Jack Nottingham, Westosha Central (WI), 2023
Positional Profile: C/RHP
Body: 5-10, 165-pounds.
Defense: 2.29-2.40 pop times. Low setup, feet work efficiently to target, momentum works through the ball.
Arm: RH. C - 72 mph. Short arm action from a high 3/4 slot.
Hit: RHH. Wide base, slightly open, hands set high. Brief load back, small stride to closed position. Bat path works uphill through contact.
Power: Recorded a max exit speed of 81.65 mph during BP.
Run: 5.21 runner from home to first.

Owen Nowak, Union Grove (WI), 2023
Positional Profile: OF
Body: 6-0, 165-pounds. Broad shoulders, lanky levers.
Defense: Fluid footwork on approach and when ranging laterally; extra shuffle through transfer, plays through the ball.
Arm: LH. OF - 84 mph. Long, loose arm action from a high 3/4 slot.
Hit: LHH. Balanced base, open front foot, high back elbow, short stride to even. Bat path is short and direct, showed some feel for the barrel in batting practice.
Power: Recorded a max exit speed of 92.25 mph during BP.

John Perugini, St. Catherine’s (WI), 2023
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 5-10, 160-pounds. Athletic frame with lean strength attached, particularly in the lower half.
Defense: Athletic feet that work in rhythm to the baseball, average hands, long to release, plays through the baseball.
Arm: RH. OF - 84 mph. Long and loose arm action, high 3/4 slot.
Hit: RHH. Balanced setup, back elbow starts high, hands drop slightly at load, quick toe-tap trigger, strides to closed. Above-average hand speed for age; averaged 24.22 mph per Blast Motion. Uphill bat path, meets the ball out front.
Power: Flashed power potential. Max exit speed of 91.95 mph with a max fly ball distance of 325 feet, per TrackMan.

Seth Thomas, Wauwatosa West (WI), 2022
Positional Profile: C/OF
Body: 6-2, 162-pounds. Lanky, athletic frame with room for added physical maturity.
Defense: 2.18-2.36 pop times. Worked out at catcher and in the outfield. Upright posture at gather from the crouch, feet shuffle in line to the bag, some length to release. Patient to the baseball in the outfield, glove works out front, some pack to release.
Arm: RH. C - 74 mph. OF - 85 mph. Compact arm action, winds up to release from an over-the-top arm slot.
Hit: RHH. Balanced setup, open base, active pre-pitch rhythm, hands load back with a bat tip trigger, strides to even. Loose hands with quick-twitch attached, averaged 24.40 mph of hand speed per Blast Motion. Long bat path, occasional lift, works gap-to-gap with a pull-side tendency.
Power: Present wiry strength with upside for added power. Recorded a max exit speed of 93.88 mph with a max fly ball distance of 347 feet in BP, per TrackMan.
Run: 4.29 runner from home to first.

Joey Vignali, Indian Trail (WI), 2023
Positional Profile: 1B
Body: 6-0, 170-pounds. Long, lanky levers.
Defense: Fluid feet help set proper fielding position, feel for the bag.
Arm: RH. INF - 72 mph. Short arm action from a high 3/4 slot; on target.
Hit: LHH. Balanced, stable base; hands set low. Quiet, relaxed pre-pitch, smooth load to closed stride; Repeats, simple swing. Bat path is long off an uphill plane through contact.
Power: Recorded a max exit speed of 90.70 mph during BP; max estimated batted distance of 300 feet, per TrackMan.
