Kansas Summer Open: Trackman Fastball Metrics

Prep Baseball Report Kansas hosted the Kansas Summer Open on July 20th at Wichita State University with players coming from the 2022 class through the 2025 class.  53 players from across the state of Kansas as well as players coming in from Missouri, Oklahoma, and as far as California attended the event going through a pro-style workout.  You can click on any of the names to access the player's personal profile.  Today we take a look at all the leaders in fastball data collected by the trackman.

Mitchell Johnson posted the top velocity at the event and in the 2023 class at an impressive 87.41 mph from the left side.  Zander Putthoff had the firmest fastball in the 2022 class at 79.89 mph.  Brady Unrein posted the top velo in the 2024 class at 82.36 mph with Ben Brittian right behind him at 81.18 mph.  Nolan Fevurly topped the charts in the 2025 class at 77.73 mph.  

Ben Brittian topped the charts in the 2024 class and at the event for peak spin rate on the fastball at 2341 rpm.  Jackson Cross posted the top spin rate in the 2023 class at 2326 rpm with Nolan Fevurly leading the way in the 2025 class at 2302 rpm and Javan Titus in the 2022 class at 2198 rpm.

Blaine Bourne had the highest induced vertical break at 22.6 inches giving the fastball some riding life through the zone.  Corbin Jamison had the highest induced vertical break in the 2022 class at 20.5 inches of break.  Austin Young topped the charts in the 2024 class at 20.6 inches of vertical break and Nolan Fevurly at 19.5 inches of break in the 2025 class.

Dayton Pelfrey led the way in the event and in the 2022 class with the most horizontal break at 19.5 inches of east/west action.  Jack Weakland posted the most horizontal break in the 2023 class at 17.8 inches with Whit Rhodes at 15.4 inches of break in the 2024 class and Isaac Lager at 16.5 inches in the 2025 class.
