Kansas Summer Open: Trackman Curveball Metrics

Prep Baseball Report Kansas hosted the Kansas Summer Open on July 20th at Wichita State University with players coming from the 2022 class through the 2025 class. 53 players from across the state of Kansas as well as players coming in from Missouri, Oklahoma, and as far as California attended the event going through a pro-style workout. Mitchell Johnson posted the top velocity on the curveball at the event at 72.72 mph. Ben Brittian led the way in the 2024 class at 70.91 mph with Javan Titus topping the charts in the 2022 class at 68.96 mph and Nolan Fevurly leading the way in the 2025 class at 62.25 mph.
Beau Blankenship had the top spin rate on the curveball in the 2023 class and across the event at 2274 rpm from the left side. Ben Brittian was right behind him leading the way in the 2024 class at 2269 rpm from the left side as well. Zander Putthoff had the top spinning curveball in the 22 class at 1951 and Fevurly posted the top spinning curveball in the 2025 class with an impressive 2249 rpm.
The highest induced vertical break from the event belonged to Beau Blankenship at 13.9 inches of vertical break with Jack Weakland right behind him the 23 class at 13.7 inches. Hayes Allen posted 12.2 inches of vertical break in the 25 class with Dayton Pelfrey leading the way in the 22 class at 11.8 inches and Austin Selenke in the 24 class at 8.6 inches of vertical break.
Beau Blankenship topped off his impressive curveball leading the event with 19.7 inches of horizontal break. Zander Putthoff in the 2022 class and Austin Selenke in the 2024 class both put up 16 inches of horizontal break. Nolan Feverly had the top horizontal break in the 2025 class at 13 inches of east/west action.
