The Risers
As with every season that goes by, many players take major leaps physically and developmentally. Below are some of the biggest risers since our latest rankings.
Tyner Horn RHP / 3B / Eisenhower, KS / 2023Rankings StateRank: 4 / POS: 2
The Wichita State commit had an impressive showing on both sides of the ball. Horn has followed that performance up with one of the most dominant first haves of the spring of any pitcher in the Sunflower State. Horn rises 5 spots into the top 5.
|
Logan Myers SS / 2B / Frontenac, KS / 2023Rankings StateRank: 20 / POS: 5
Myers in one of those players that seems to do everything right, and very rarely makes mistakes. The slick fielding middle infielder shows high baseball IQ and technically sound hands and feet. Offensively, the left-handed hitter has as knack for finding barrels and is adding strength quickly. Myers rises 6 spots into the top 20.
|
Zachary Sharshel RHP / Washburn Rural , KS / 2023Rankings StateRank: 23 / POS: 5
Its all about projection with Sharshel who shows a long 6-foot-3 173-pound fame and a clean arm action that should allow much more velo to come in the near future. Sharshel has already seen his velo jump nearly 10 mph in the last year and jumps 76 spots in this ranking.

The Newcomers
In the offseason, we found a couple of difference makers who earned their way into our rankings. All three of the prospects below enter the rankings in the top 40.
Nicolas Perez LHP / 1B / Shawnee Heights, KS / 2023Rankings StateRank: 22 / POS: 2
Perez was one of the top performers at the MOKAN Preseason All-State where he commanded the zone with a mid 80s fastball, fading changeup, and mid 70s slider, all with advanced spin rates that will get consistent swings and misses at the next level. Perez is a recent Emporia State commit.
|
Charles Gates C / RHP / Shawnee Mission North, KS / 2023Rankings StateRank: 27 / POS: 3
Gates jumps into the rankings at 27 after a strong showing at the BTL Scout Day on both sides of the baseball. At 6-foot, 170-pounds, Gates has plenty of room to continue to add size and strength and could easily continue to rise.
|
Tate Blasi SS / 3B / Bishop Carroll, KS / 2023Rankings StateRank: 39 / POS: 8
The long and projectable SS jumps into the rankings in the top 40 after a strong showing at the Mokan Preseason All-State Showcase. Blasi showed quick twitch athleticism with the fastest home-to-first time at the event as well as a 93 mph exit velo from the left size. As Blasi continues to add size and strength, look for him to rise up the rankings.
