The Gatorade Player of the Year awards were handed out this week and Holmen’s Jeren Kendall took it home for Wisconsin. Kendall is having a phenomenal year; the No. 1 ranked prospect is leading the No. 1 ranked team (Holmen) to an undefeated 20-0 record currently and looking to make a run at a state championship.
Kendall, a Vanderbilt commit, is hitting .515 on the year with five home runs and 31 RBI. He has scored 37 runs with 20 extra base hits and 17 stolen bases. Kendall is also slugging .971 with an on-base percentage of .629. Those numbers also just earned Kendall the Mississippi Valley Conference Player of the Year.
Along with his No. 1 player ranking and No. 1 team ranking, Kendall is also primed to be the first Wisconsin prospect selected in this year's MLB amateur draft. Kendall has seen his name on multiple national draft boards as one of the top high school outfield prospects in the nation.
