Jack Klages verbally commits
January 12, 2012
Jack Klages, a left-handed hitting catcher from Vianney, has verbally committed to Mizzou. The No. 8 ranked Class of 2013 player, Klages (right) had a strong sophomore campaign for Vianney, who finished third in the Class 4A state tournament. He batted .389 with a .463 on-base percentage, 37 hits, four doubles, a triple, two home runs, and 28 RBI, while committing only three errors all season.
Klages has been increasingly impressive at each of the Prep Baseball Report Missouri events he’s attended. He has repeatedly flashed pop times of 1.97-2.03, and shown a strong (77 mph) and accurate arm. At the plate, the 6-foot-1, 170-pounder has impressive bat speed and a compact swing, which generate well-struck line drives to all fields. Considering that he already possesses raw power, Klages should see a spike in extra-base hits over the next two seasons.
This past summer Klages was selected to play in the prestigious Under Armour Midwest Future Games, where he and the other top Class of 2013 players competed against the premier Class of 2013 players from Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.
