JUCO Player Spotlight - NEO: Dan Merrill
April 21, 2021
The uncommitted Sophomore and main workhorse for the NEO staff is putting together a very respectable season so far with leading the Golden Norseman in innings pitched (37.2), wins (5), complete games (3), and strikeouts (66). The ERA is a little inflated at 6.93 but has only allowed 32 hits in 37.2 innings pitched and has a quality strikeout/walk ratio at 66/24 (2.75). The quick armed righty uses his max effort delivery to pump fastballs in the upper 80's and shows a quality feel for shaping two breaking balls with the slider in the low 80's and curveball in the upper 70's. At 6-foot-5 and 215 pounds, Merrill has the ability to be a durable starter at the next level but could also become a sprinter bullpen piece that will allow the stuff to play up at a higher level.
