Inside the Recruitment: '17 3B Cameron Kaiser commits to Walsh
November 28, 2016
Cameron Kaiser, 3B, Olentangy HS, Class of 2017
PBR: Why did you choose Walsh?
Kaiser: I chose Walsh University because I really like Coach Mead and his staff. The team and University felt like the right fit for me.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Kaiser: I was also looking at Eastern Kentucky, Ohio and Tri-C.
PBR: Where did the coaches first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?
Kaiser: One of the assistant coaches saw me over the summer and then again in the fall with my team, Triple Crown Royals. I talked a few times with the coaches and then went for a visit. Coach Mead is interested in how to develop each player on and off the field.
PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team for the rest of your senior season?
Kaiser: My biggest goal for my senior year is to help take our high school team to a state championship. We made a great run last year and came up short. I want to have fun, play hard and give Olentangy a state championship. Individually, I want to get back to pitching this year and make first team all-state.
PBR: Was the recruiting process everything that you expected?
Kaiser: The recruiting process is tough. You talk to a lot of coaches at different times, which can be a lot to think about. There are definitely ups and downs. You really have to be patient and find the right fit academically as well as on the field.
PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable experience?
Kaiser: I play for Triple Crown Royals in the summer. We have a great group of guys who leave it all on the field. My most memorable experience was winning our final tournament of the season on a walk-off at Wright State
PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?
Kaiser: My teammate, Andrew Magno who is now playing at The Ohio State University, when we did intersquad scrimmages.
