July 30, 2015
Hunter Carson, RHP, Otsego, Class of 2016
PBR: Why did you choose Tiffin?
Carson: I quickly developed a good relationship with all the coaches. The facilities were very impressive and within an hour of my home.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Carson: Sinclair CC was my first offer. Several D1 schools were showing interest but had yet to offer.
PBR: Where did Tiffin first see you compete?
Carson: I believe the Top Prospect Games at Prasco Field in June.
PBR: Coach Wilkins has brought a lot of excitement to the Dragon baseball program. What are some of the skills that you will bring to the table Tiffin?
Carson: I feel I have a good work ethic and drive to maximize my abilities. I will be focusing on building my core and arm strength this winter.
PBR: What kind of role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Carson: The coaches made no promises. My goal is to work hard and be a contributor to the team my freshman year.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Carson: My father was very supportive throughout my development as a baseball player. He pushed me to develop my pitching skills. I also have been very fortunate to have outstanding coaches both in travel ball and high school baseball. Coach Welker, my high school coach and former D1 player, has provided insight on the demands of college baseball.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience?
Carson: Lima Locos Express. My most exciting experience would be reaching the semi-finals of the Cincy Flames Dinger World Series which started with 86 teams. Playing with the Locos Express for the past three summers has allowed me to play at some outstanding fields.
PBR: What were your stats for this spring season?
Carson: 6 – 2 record in 8 appearances. 5 – 1 record in 6 starts, 6 complete games. 0.89 ERA in 39.1 Innings pitched. 47 K’s, 8 Walks, 0.839 WHIP. Allowed only 4 extra base hits (all doubles).
PBR: Who is the best hitter that you have ever faced?
Carson: It is difficult to pick out one player. I have faced many talented hitters while playing with the Express.
