Inside the Recruitment: '15 RHP Brad Wilson commits to Ohiio Dominican

PBR: Why did you choose Ohio Dominican?

Wilson: I chose Ohio Dominican because it is a well-rounded school that met my criteria. It is close to home, it’s a smaller school, and they are very competitive in all athletics. They also have a great student body and staff that made me feel welcome on campus.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Wilson: I was considering multiple Division 1 school in Kentucky such as Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky but I was looking for a smaller school.

PBR: Where did Ohio Dominican first see you? How did your relationship develop with Coach Page?

Wilson: I was first seen by Ohio Dominican in the summer following my junior year. I don't know exactly where but I was contacted by Coach Page and Coach Antonides. When I first met Coach Page, My first impression was the experience he has in college baseball. I felt that his main concern was for the bettering of his players, not only as baseball players, but also as individuals.

PBR: Coach Page has made Ohio Dominican a baseball powerhouse. What will it be like to play under the legendary coach?

Wilson: To have the opportunity to play under Coach is a great honor for me and I look forward to being a part of the great tradition that he has developed at Ohio Dominican.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Wilson: The coaches expect me to fill the spots of pitcher who will be graduating this year and hopefully fill gaps that will be left behind when they graduate.

PBR: What summer team do you play on and how has travel baseball helped your development as a player?

Wilson: I play for the Ohio Elite 17u Team (Valentine) in the summer and I believe that team best prepared me for college by putting me up against some of the best competition in the country. Also I was teamed with the best players in Ohio and they all had the same focus that I did which motivated me to be the best I could. Also, having Chris Valentine As a coach put me in the best position recruiting wise.

PBR: What was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Wilson: My best memory from this summer was hanging out in the bullpen with the other pitchers all summer.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Wilson: My father has had the biggest impact on me because of the fact he has polished me my entire life to achieve what I have.

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?

Wilson: The toughest hitter I have had to face was Matt Smith who now attends Coastal Carolina
